How did the rotation get worse? They're bringing back the same rotation that took them from 54-66 to 83-79 by the end of the season.

And I must be missing the whole division getting better thing.

Cincinnati added Choo, Manny Parra, Jason Donald and Jack Hannahan. Sure Choo is good on offense but he's going to be terrible on defense in CF.

St. Louis lost Kyle Lohse and Lance Berkman and signed Ty Wigginton, Ronny Cedeno and Randy Choate. Lohse probably isn't going to be missed because of the depth in their farm system but it's not like they went out and added a ton of pieces.

Pittsburgh added Francisco Liriano, Russell Martin, Mark Melancon, Jeanmar Gomez and Jonathan Sanchez. Once again, where's the big move that drastically improves them?

The only reason the division got better is because the Astros left it.
I doubt the ability of Mike Fiers to repeat what he did and they also don't have the benefit of Greinke and Marcum for a half season. On top of that, there's the potential threat of losing Braun for 50 games, which would basically harpoon their season.

The only team other than the Brewers that could be argued got worse is St. Louis and I'm not sure I buy that at all. Plus you do lose those extra wins against Houston.

So you don't think Fiers can put up a 3.74 ERA over a full season despite having a 3.09 FIP and 3.47 xFIP? Yes they don't have Greinke or Marcum but they also went on a huge run without those two. Why can't they do that again?

And where's this threat of Braun being suspended? Because his name showed up on a sheet of paper? Until there's something that's a little more concrete than that MLB has no grounds to suspend him.

The Brewers only went 9-8 against the Astros last year. I haven't checked but that's probably worst in the division against them other than maybe the Cubs.

Agree. Twins and Astros are a good chance to be drafting #1 and #2 overall. Rockies may have a say in that though.

I get the love the Jays are getting, but I just can't get myself to be a believer. Too much bad history, too much expertise at finding ways to lose.

I'm putting them in the ALE basement along with my beloved, but completely broken, Red Sox.

The Mariners will probably get worse, because the promise of their young players succeeding hasn't panned out in about 10 years.

Minnesota was probably a typo. However the AL central is somewhat wide open after Detroit no? Are the white sox that good?

what does that mean "the promise of their young players succeeding"?

they have a good pitching staff that fits their park (even if the park gets smaller) that's backed by a pretty good defense. their offense hasn't been anything to write home about for a few years. but then again...you have them finishing behind the astros who are a mess, covered in ****, set on fire, then the ashes reignited and used to start another larger fire.

the astros are probably a 105 loss team. no way the mariners are worse than that even though "the promise of their young players succeeding hasn't panned out in about 10 years".

Houston could challenge the Tigers 119 losses from 2003.

This is the worst team I've ever laid eyes on. I really agree with you, I'm expecting a 110 loss season.

I even consider that team better on paper than this one. To go 119 losses though takes more than just a real crappy team.

How did the Mariners get worse? IMO they pretty much stayed the same.

I lived in Seattle last summer and saw the Mariners regularly. They played better in the 2nd half of the season. Whether they can capitalize on that in the 2013 remains to be seen, but there is talent there for sure.

I won't say they will win the division, but they won't be that bad. Mediocre, above-average team at best

because, "the promise of their young players succeeding hasn't panned out in about 10 years."

that's why they'll finish behind the astros. it's all written there.

Believe it or not, until I see otherwise I never pick the Angels for anything good. Every year they are predicted to be amazing and well...

Anyway, I'm pretty bad at guessing the awards so I will throw out my World Series pick and say Cincy over Toronto. I know I'm totally taking the easy way out but really, you guys are much better at the individual stuff than I am, lol

And no surprise, Indians will continue to struggle despite offseason moves until Antonetti and Shapiro are far, far away from that organization. The fact that those two clowns actually have supporters in the Indians fanbase is startling. In fact, some fans predicted the Indians to win the AL Central this year.

Don't see why so many have the ChiSox finishing second. Both Royals and Tribe have made numerous improvements while the Sox were kind of stale in the offseason. It's the Tigers division to lose though.
