Could Giroux be traded? What's he worth?

It's too early in the season for even the Flyers to consider making a move like this. He has had a slow start and I get the feeling that this will be forgotten about by the end of the season.

That's absolutely obscene, quite frankly. One of Subban or Galchenyuk, a 2013 first rounder + a great prospect is much more fair. There's not a chance in the world that you could get Subban and Galchenyuk in that same deal. I don't care if you think that's fair value, you're out of your mind if you think that, seeing as Gally's ceiling is ~90 point player.

From the Habs I'd offer up Subban + Eller + 2014 1st
People are thinking it would require:

Subban + Galchenyuk + 2013 1st ++

That package would put Giroux to shame quite frankly.

Did you not see Galchenyuk tonight vs the flyers? He's played 13 games and has 8pts. Get a clue guy

Absolutely crazy to think the Flyers would trade Giroux, but the Habs offers PK Subban + 1st round pick + Nathan Beaulieu/Jarret Tinordi.

I think an offer like that makes the Flyers management think about it IF they want to trade Giroux.
yeah great but the habs aren't going to completely gut their future D corps for a center. we have galchenyuk, eller, desharnais, plekanecs and playing well. so it isn't happening. certainly not at the expense of that group on D

What an absurd thread.

This is a classic low start, and even Holmgren isn't crazy enough to deal a talent like Giroux. Though I wish he would.

No, it's not fair, in my opinion.

That would put Giroux to shame? How so?

Oh, so now that Galchenyuk has played 13 games, that completely changes his value then if we went back to juniors. RIGHT.

And if your astounded by his "stupidity", then you're obviously new to this forum. Oh, so he wasn't quite sure that Galchenyuk stayed with the big club this season? Sorry not everyone follows such intricate details about every single team 24/7. You don't know every intricate detail about my team, so therefor, you have never seen my team play in your life, you know nothing, and I am astounded by stupidity. I mean, come on man.

edit:.....and now I feel awkward.

You mean like a guy who's putting up 12 points in 13 game so far?

You clearly don't know anything about Pietrangelo. He's one of the best 3 defensemen in the game right now and the Blues would not move him for Giroux.
No he isnt' . Take your rose colored glasses off.

'clearly' I was watching hockey before you were even born. Possibly your parents.

Hell no. Kesler is far more valuable than Giroux would be to the Canucks. Not to say Giroux isn't an exceptional player but I wouldn't do this from a Canucks POV. I also strongly think is Kesler didn't have an injury last season (or if he had finished healthy) he would be far more valuable than Giroux.

It may be a small sample size, but this team can win without Kesler. Sure he makes us a better team, but Giroux is a legit top 10 talent in this league.

Subban and Galchenyuk is a fair price for Giroux. You have to give up quite a huge ransom to get a premier talent like him. Two young 1st-round type roster players, minimum.

I almost said "imagine how hard it would suck having to play against a team that sends out the Sedins, and just when you get them off the cie with out a goal Giroux comes off the bench.....". But I've seen what this looks like whenever the Flyers play Pittsburgh. It does suck.

Giroux has too much potential is is still young.

I don't see him being traded but if he did he is easily worth comparable superstars like Jonathan Toews , Corey Perry or John Tavares.

His #'s and Mike Richards #'s aren't that far off. A 75-76pt season followed by 1 really good season, then comes back down to "earth."

I still remember the time people thought he was better than Malkin, lol.

He's not worth 2 of those 3 names you mentioned. You know which 2

Yeah.. I never said that it's LIKELY Giroux gets traded, just said that it is a possibility. After the way philly blew up their team after the 09-10 season ended, a move like this wouldn't be THAT huge of a surprise.

Forsberg a deal breaker here, especially if you change Green to Carlson. How about you add some top-9 F prospect? Or we replace Forsberg with Barber.

Yes because a 16 game sample is indicitive of how a player will perform long-term.
