12 pts in last 7 games.

Almost back to PPG.

Impressive note. Moose Jaw Warriors are 2nd last in scoring with 151 goals. Rielly has been in on 44 of them. Unreal.

I absolutely agree with u here. Sorry I was being a jackass last time, didn't meant to rub it that way since I am a Leafs fan and a Rielly fan.

It's just that I thought it wouldn't be a good idea to bump up the thread EACH and EVERYTIME he has a point in a game.

Tonight, he absolutely deserves to get praised and he has been instrumental for Moose Jaw ever since he was sent back. He is the backbone of that team.

Cant wait to see him wear the Blue and White.

Our first true blue-chip since Rask.

I'm still amazed that he can rack up these points despite what is left on the roster. He really is the difference between that team winning games and winning none at all.

The points are nice, but just good to see how well he's playing overall.

I think he's the most well-liked prospect overall since Tuuka Rask; and I mean in the eyes of other fans as well.

He's a nice, humble B.C kid who is letting his skill do the talking. Rarely will you find better skaters than this guy.

rielly update: 4th in scoring for WHL D men, 11g 33a 44 pts in 47 games playing on a team with a winning percentage of a little bit over .400%. 1 less point in 2 fewer games than jones who plays on a team with a winning % close to .600. do not trade this guy. he is untouchable.

I think we'll see Morgan Rielly in the AHL next year.

I hope Dallas Eakins sticks around for another year with the Marlies. He would do wonders for Rielly's development.

He essentially turned Korbinian Holzer and Mark Fraser into capable NHL players.

It's NHL or WHL for him next year...he can't play in the AHL. He can join the Marlies at the end of his WHL season though.

To be fair, Holzer was going to make NHL at some point at one way or another. Though, Eakins has definitely done wonders with many of our young guns. Holzer has been very solid.

Damn, you're right. For some reason I thought he was 19 already and would turn 20 before December 31st.

That's very unfortunate. It looks like he won't get the chance to play under Dallas Eakins for a significant stretch. He'll be back in the WHL next year and I think that's part of the reason why Moose Jaw didn't trade him this year.

They will next year, IMO.

I know the age rule is in place to protect CHL teams from loosing star players, but it's too bad the Leafs have to choose between the NHL and a crumby junior team for Rielly next season.

A step up to the AHL sounds perfect for Rielly's development, as he may not be ready for the NHL. Hopefully Moose Jaw trades him, but I if they haven't done it yet...

Why would they not deal him this season, only to trade him next?

I'm guessing they want to retain Rielly for team marketability reasons. He's a great player to watch and an elite prospect for a high profile NHL team. If that's their reasoning I don't see them trading him next season either.

Yeah let's just hope they don't do what they did with Rask and trade him.

Agreed, but my guess is he makes the Leafs next year and gets some sheltered minutes...

They need to change this rule. The AHL is the proper place for him and other who have done all they can do in Junior. It's an important step in the development curve. Europeans have the advantage of playing in the elite league at any age. It's a dumb rule that needs to be changed.

Agreed.

He will get a large chunk of games in the AHL with Eakins once the WHL season ends. Assuming Eakins plays him. He'd get the last month of the regular season + the playoffs.

He's too good for the WHL but shouldn't be playing in the NHL yet either.

I think the AHL and CHL should establish an exceptional player rule so players like Morgan Rielly aren't forced to stay in the bigs when they shouldn't be there.

I think the 2 months or so of AHL time he gets after his WHL season is over will greatly help him out.

I think so too. One of the last cuts for the Leafs and Carlyle had no problem playing Fowler as an 18 year old, I don't think a 19 year old Rielly should have a problem making the NHL unless he it's a wall somewhere between now and training camp.
