1 bad game and 1 bad period isn't going to stop the Dallas Stars from playing Bachman. He proved to be more than capable in PHX and the 3rd period in Vancouver. With is quality starts last year as well, the team isn't going to jump to conclusions as quickly as the fans.
Not that I'm saying he's better than Nihlstorp, but I like putting Bachman in against Calgary. Guarantee the team, especially Bachman, want to redeem themselves. I say he bounces back and we get the W.
This was originally a fantasy thread so might be better in the General section, but how good does Joe's decision to sign Nilstorp look now?
It put JC in a no-pressure situation for his first pro season in the AHL, giving him a stable partner to allow him to work the kinks out of his game without being "the man. Kari has a history of minor injuries, and now it gives us two good backups to rotate while he's out. Bachman can be pushed to be better, or if he fails, have time to work on his game as well.

Very smart decision.
Um, didn't they need to sign somebody to replace Raycroft? I think Joe deserves credit for thinking outside the box and getting a decent (so far) goalie, but having another option isn't exactly a genius move.

I don't think I will ever get this. People here could tell you ways that the stats don't tell the entire truth about certain players, but aren't there better places to get this kind of info? Beat writers, team pages, fantasy hockey services etc?

Why would they have needed to sign someone to replace Raycroft? They could have rolled with Campbell/Besko in Austin.
(off the record), a certain dfw hockey media person who won a sailboat on "press your luck" years ago swears that lehtinen could play again if he so desired...
Please no more Bachman. He can't make any big saves, Nilstorp has shown he can. Infact, Bachman seems like the only goalie in our organization who can't make big saves.

Nilstorp has a grand total of 111 NHL minutes in which he's given up 5 goals. He'll get his chance now for sure, but I don't know how you can say with any confidence that he's a much better option.

He also plays so low and locks himself into position. It's painful to watch.

A lot of people in the Stars organization came out and said he could still play even when he retired (obviously...cause we still wanted him back). But he won't play unless he feels he's 100%.
To stay on topic, play Nilstorp please.
