No worries, just a miscommunication, happens. I apologize if I gave that impression, I hadn't read through the whole thread.

Would someone like O'Brien be able to come back? Without MDZ the Rangers would need another 3rd pairing guy.

You should tune in for one of our powerplays. I just can't explain in words.... It's bad

That's the only reason I do it. It's crazy some Leafs fans are saying no to trading Gardiner for him. Gardiner is great, but we need O'Reilly.

He usually mans the point on the PP and has the uncanny ability to get his shot blocked. I think he really is the best player in the league in getting his shot blocked from the point.

A big reason for this is that our coach plays him on the wrong side for a reason no Avs fan will ever understand.

EDIT: He certainly could. We have way too many depth dman. ROB, SOB, Zanon,Hunwick... just take your pick
Oh and in the "not that much better and could also be traded but you would have to add"- category we have Hejda and maybe Wilson.

I think it's a foregone conclusion for most Avs fans that we will be losing that trade. I don't know about everyone else, but I'm pretty bitter about it. I was holding out hope it was a play to get him to re-sign for cheaper, but reading Duchene's comments I'm thinking that ship has sailed.

He has a BOOMING shot from the point, but it appears, to me at least, that he lacks confidence with it.

It doesn't help that I think he's playing on the wrong side of the PP in order to effectively use his shot, but when he unleashes it, he has the uncanny ability to shoot it right at the defender.

And I noticed on the last couple of PP's before his injury, he would hesitate just a little bit before attempting a shot. To me that's a sign of lack of confidence in it.

It would be great just to see him get some of his shots through and eventually get a PP goal, I think that would help him get his confidence back.

I'd make a deal around ROR and Gardiner, if and only if, there is a deal in place to move Grabovski. It doesn't make sense for the Leafs to have 2 guys at $5mil if neither is a legit #1 (yet).

I was just going to post this.

If you want to see a bad PP that is inexplicably bad, watch the Rangers....

Nash
Richards
Gaborik
Callahan
MDZ

Worst in the league. What!?

But we are literally worse than the Rangers on the PP....not by much, but according to NHL.com stats we are 30th in the league.

The Avs had the most colorado PP goal earlier today. We spent a full minute getting out played and out chanced despite the man advantage until Duchene picked up the puck in his own zone and made a goal on the rush. This team can't score off possession in the other team's zone, like ever, and the PP just exacerbates that problem.

No offense, it's a lot more frustrating with the personnel that we have. Even Richards who has sucked this year is supposed to be a very good PP guy (though he wasn't last year either).

No offense but we have our best players out as well and they look like a squad of headless chicken running around turning the puck over or making passes to the referee... I actually believe they would have more success if they treat it as a PK...

I have seen both teams quite a bit and I must say that I would hate to be a Rangers fan with that PP atleast Avs move it around, but Rangers is basically 2 minutes of passing to each other. I just don't think Tortorella is a good powerplayer coach when he is more defensive minded.

pfft, we could have Nash, Richards, Gaborik, Zubov, and Leetch all in their prime and it would still suck

just because you dont score goals probably, thats got to be the only reason. The Rangers make awesome line changes that lead to breakaways or odd man rushes on their own pp, ice the puck on their own power play, and refuse to hit the net.

Hmm. No we actually usually just fail to gain the zone or pass it to noone or sth.
But your PP sounds like a lot of fun. Comedy on Ice. I just might tune in the next time

We have a game on tonight if you're interested.

But, at risk of making the ever-absurd "my team sucks more than yours" argument, the Rangers' PP is the bigger disappointment by a substantial margin. Seriously, we've got Nash, Richards, Gaborik, Callahan, Stepan and Del Zotto, not to mention guys like McD, Girardi, Staal and Hagelin yet we're 0.1% shy of 30th.

We've made sucking on the PP an art form.

For me, there are four deals that make sense for both teams that involve ROR. I'm mainly talking centerpieces here, as one side in each trade would likely have to add.

1

Ryan O'Reilly to NYR for Michael Del Zotto

Avs get a PP quarterback, NYR get a No.2 C that would look awesome with Callahan

2

Ryan O'Reilly to PHX for Keith Yandle

Coyotes get a No.1 C for their club. and Avalanche get a No.1 D who is also a fantastic powerplay QB

3

Ryan O'Reilly to TOR for Jake Gardiner

I don't know what went on when it came to this deal in the last couple of pages, but Leafs may be able to trade Gardiner with Rielly in the fold, Avs get a young D and Leafs get a good young C.

4

Ryan O'Reilly to ANA for Cam Fowler

Ducks get a No.2 C and Avs get a young D.
