I would be so pissed to see JD trade a 30+ minute a night defenseman for a second line center

To the OP: Why use an article that is a year old? That's using stats to prove a point when it doesn't necessarily show the objective truth (stats can be manipulated to show anything).

JJ's rel Corsi for this season is .44 and this QoC Corsi is over 2. Not great but not the worst by far (even on the CBJ). (This is here for those that love the stats personally I'm not a believer in stats alone).

Meh, as others have posted here I kinda agree with Jarmo, I don't know if JMFJ is all that he's cracked up to be.

Now I wouldn't mind picking him up, as he and EJ could make a very good pairing, but I wouldn't do it straight up for ROR, especially considering CBJ is in the West Coast(at least for now).

I think if ROR gets traded to any team in the West its going to require a fairly significant overpayment, Avs management want ROR out of the West so the Avs face him as little as possible because ROR is that good, and would not be fun to play against every night.

And given what the asking price is for ROR from east teams, it could possibly take JMFJ++ for ROR. And I doubt CBJ would do a ++.

For arguments sake, I will throw this out there:

JMFJ + Foligno/Brassard for ROR + 2nd.

I could see it if it's JJ for ROR+

Colorado needs a defenseman, but CBJ needs large amounts of scoring and a RW.

Which combination would be better for CBJ:

JJ+MacK+RW+1st rd pick

Or

ROR+Depth RW+Seth Jones+1st rd RW+1st rd pick ?

Another thing to consider is the number of Defensemen backing up on the depth chart in CBJ.

If I was CBJ's GM , would make an offer to COL for ROR for some of the depth defensemen in CBJ's system and keep the pick and JJ.

Let Tyutin-Nikitin handle that and move Erixon to top 4 role.

Funny thing about this question is Jack Johnson's so-called "advanced stats" are none too shabby this season. Corsi's good considering his team and the competition he's against...driving the play from the defensive zone to the forward zone...Columbus doesn't get scored on when he's on the ice vs anybody else (slightly less).

In other words, right now is the exact wrong time to start thinking Jack Johnson's garbage due to his "advanced stats." They aren't bad this year. At all.

And the Avs wouldn't even consider accepting that. You're not gonna get ROR for "depth defenseman"

You have to give to get.

He's be a genius if he traded Johnson for a good return, because those stats are absolutely right, but it is also a hard sell. Even though he is a new GM and could get away with it, Johnson has been their golden boy who has shown unconditional loyalty and enthusiasm for the franchise. For a young and struggling franchise like that, for a new player to come in excited about his new team and looking to lead the team to success, it beams hope to the fans, and to turn around and immediately trade him will probably be a turn off for the fanbase. Though it would be an extremely smart move to strike while the iron is hot with Johnson...

Tyutin and Nikitin have been kind of brutal recently.

Moving Johnson opens up a huge hole Columbus can't fill at the moment.

Likewise. That's the sort of move that would kill any faith I have in the man.

That is awful. We give up a thirty minutes a night Dman and our best center prospect for a 2nd line center and a D prospect who is absolutely redundant. This is among the worst trade offers I have seen recently.

I think a deal around JJ for Stastney would be a good idea for both teams. It gives CBJ a legit centreman. I do think that COL would have to add a bit as Stastney is a UFA after next season.

Then COL can trade RoR for a centreman like Gagner +. Gagner has skill and has made big strides this year, 4 goals, 11 assist in 14 games. His faceoffs have improved the last few games and I see this good for both teams.

If JMFJ gets traded that would be flat out stupid.

There is NO reason for Columbus to trade him. None, whatsoever.
