His stats might be a bit skewed. Flames are having Stajan take all the important faceoffs. Jones is really only taking draws against other 4th liners (and doing a great job at it!) but last season he was weak on draws. I am not sure I would expect Jones to be great on faceoffs against other good centers.

I still expect someone to claim Jones though.

I know I'm way late on the Irving discussion, but catching up and seeing a lot of assumptions got pretty aggravating.

The reason why Irving was behind Brust and Taylor in Abbotsford was because he was only signed to a PTO. He, like many other NHLers, would have had to clear waivers to be assigned to the AHL during the lockout. Thus, the Heat signed him to a PTO. The problem with a PTO is that it is only good for 25 games. Even having Irving on the bench would burn a game off the deal. With both Brust and Taylor playing great hockey at the start of the season, there was no need to burn through Irving's PTO. He continued to practice with the Heat, and played in the occasional game. Also, a PTO can only be renewed once.

I hope that clarifies some misconceptions. There was a little more to it other than someone "sucks".

There is also a belief of some that Irving was being 'trained' to be Kipper's backup by only playing 1-2 times a month like he he would in the NHL when Kipper is healthy.

Jones cleared already. There's no 48hr weekend waivers anymore.

That sucks for them that Powe got injured...

you can have him for a late pick, or maybe for an expiring minor league contract (Segal?)

Ranger fans like to think the worst, Powe could be fine and if he's out for a bit it stinks cause he has fit in nicely but they have minor league options........they likely just put Kreider back in but if not they have Mashinter, Palmieri, Ferrerio, Newbury, Segal, Haley all in CT and they have some NHL experience to fill in on the 4th line
