I guess its all relative to expectations. Hodgson has been HORRID in our zone for most of the season but posters ignore that because they are understandably excited about his offense. Pommer's been his usual solid self defensively and lately has been taking draws because Hodgson isn't very good at them as well. Until today he's out produced Hodgson as well. But Hodgson is the new toy so he gets a pass on his flaws.
Hodgson is also in his first season as a first line center playing against the top lines in the league. So yah I would say he should get a pass on his defensive lapses. But I wouldn't say he has been horrid just not good by no means. But has made some strong defensive plays this year. Most notably saving a sure goal.

Well, since we've been ******** on our centers for their defense...Ennis had a great backcheck and Hodgson had a nice breakup of a Crosby pass in the defensive zone. Just giving credit when credit is due.

I have no problem with Hodgson. he is playing how I expect a young center in his first season in an increased role to play. I was pointing out the deference in expectations. Hence the opening to my points on Hodgson.

Definitely does make a difference and if you think otherwise you are clueless. Players especially young players need time to develop their defensive games. It just doesn't come naturally without experience. Flaws are worked on and mistakes are learned from all through experience.

Do you have greater expectations out of the young kid than you do the vet/Captain of our hockey team? I mean I agree Hodgson hasn't been perfect and is subject to some criticisms as well, but I expect Pommer to be better, because he hasn't been very good this year.

Why the hell did Cody be all polite there and wait for the jersey to come down?

NO THATS WHY I POSTED WHAT I DID.

I agree the expectations should be different.

I also said Pommer needs to wake up.

My only issue was with the assertion he has struggled all season which is absurd. But par for the course since he gets so little credit for what he brings and a kid like Hodgson gets overrated.

Guys,

He is not saying Hodgson is a bust, what he is trying to say is that you are being inconsistent if you use different standards to evaluate Cody and Jason. If Pommers is having a bad season then by the same standards Hodgson is a complete trainwreck in his own zone...goals aside.

Love McCormick letting Glass get his jersey back down. He could have killed him. Still, Glass's face is looking a bit beat up

They do it every game since the Sabres have many Canadian fans (me included).

Buffalo sings both anthems every game because of our proximity to Canada and the fact that round 10% of our season ticket holders are Canadian.

This argument is going in cycles Haha

What makes Pommers great is his forechecking, defensive play, consistency, and playmaking. An all around player. The consistency has been lacking. That's why i made that statement. Again, i haven't seen every game, so...
