Let's hope Boudreau brought his playoff choking to Anaheim. Also hope Getzlaf and Perry sign elsewhere.

20-12-4 is like 500.

So nether team is in real trouble, yet. As long as Philly can maintain 500. play with some OT losses, they should be close.

Flyers are in the same boat as us, balance between home and away games not very good. They will pull those points back quickly.

Having seen all of both teams games, I'll disagree with that. Kings are a top puck possession team who are also outstandiung defensively and that extends thru their forwards and that is all the difference. The Flyers points last year were largeley due to come from behind wins and getting the extra goal, aka scoring 6 goals because they gave up 4. Any team that doesn't win most of their games by establisthing and maintaining say a 3-1 lead won't be succesful esp in the playoffs. In the playoffs , their record over the last 2 years when they've scored less then 4 goals? 0-14. Reg season wins last year whe nthey scored 2 goals or less ? 1. Lavvy doesn't care aobut D, and his forwards lose most of their board battles, which was badly exposed when the Devils tuned them up in the playoffs. Last night was a disgrace; and it won't get any easier with the Isles (who they usualy struggle agasint) and the Pens. And Giroux has been MIA most of the year.
This team needs a new coach, a new system and some new faces would be nice but because Homer makes ? choices (Giving Kimmo 6 mill for next year???) their at 69 Mill for next year with 4 or 5 players to resign.
I didn' like Homers horrible offseason decisions and predicted then they would not make the playoffs, and I still don't them doing so. Even if they managed to get in, they're out in the 1st round. This team is not a contender, too many holes and not enough leadership when it counts.

Quote:
Watching the Flyers/Habs game, and the Flyers look very bad. They're a lifeless team that doesn't even look like they're good enough to qualify for the playoffs.
No they're not and that is Sniders's and Homers fault. Snider has been butchering this team for years (See the talent on the Phantoms Calder Cup cham p 2005 team, which he butchered. Five of those guys have Cups with other teams. This team would be so much better with say,Patrick Sharpe , Seidenberg , MRichards, not to mention Lupol and Sbisa...) He's always looking for the 'quick fix' , he stil ldoesn't get you build a championshiop, you dont' buy it. Swinging for the fences gets you more strikeouts than home runs. And he'll do it again this year...at 80 he's getting more desperate and irrational in his misguided attempts to get a Cup.
Homer makes poor decisoins and is terrible at Cap management. Last year he was so bent on getting Suter (who had stated he would not come East) that not only didn't he sign Carle , but maybe could have signed Garrison to give flyers D corp some offensive punch. Instead we got Bruno Gervias and Foster. Giroux, who was their best player, asked (to the point of begging) for them to resign Jagr who was a huge part of not only the 93 points he put up but on Giroux 's growth as a player off the ice. G clearly misses him this year and it shows. They ignored that reqest. We got Knuble and Fedetekio instead. Then he trades JVR, who was never developed property here, a young power forward needs reg. minutes and stability on a line to develop and he got neither, his last two years he was bounced from line to line ,benched and got 0 PP time. The Leafs have given him all of that and it's shown.
We had a good youing goalie in Bobrovsky who had an outstanding rookie year and instead of doing the right thing, grooming him and letting him grow over a couple more years, they threw him away last year and got rid of him. Bryz will never win them a Cup, in the playoffs historically, he's mentally weak and cracks under pressure. No surprise that teh Yotes went so much futher without him last year, playing looser and more confident.

I agree with DeeShamrock on everything. I'm not worried about the Kings getting in, the Flyers though are another story. They've played 16 games and are out of it and look lost. We were at Monday's game in Toronto and as soon as the Leafs got momentum, there was no pushback from the Flyers. It's like they're going through the motions. The Kings have played well and lost while the Flyers haven't. Teams should be up to speed by now with the rust shaken off but they look lost, not only that but Lavi looks like he gave up right from the start.

Deeshamrock just hit the nail on the head. The Flyers rely on scoring because they don't play a lick of defense. The problem is, they lost over 100 points from their roster from last season when they traded JVR (who only played half a season) and let Carle and Jagr walk. Who was brought in to replace all those points? Luke Schenn. This has forced several second year players into scoring roles that they simply are not ready for. The Flyers are poorly constructed, poorly coached, and their play looks lifeless.

wondering when the overhaul in PHI will begin. starting at the top with a new GM that will actually build a team, instead of playing checkers. meaning jumping all over the place with players/contracts/draft picks. laugh and criticize TOR and what Burke was doing there, but PHI is as bad if not worse. Flyers should be embarrassed at the amount of talent they have traded away.

nothing will improve until a new GM with enough balls comes in and tells Snider he will build the team 'his' way. for the old man to stay out of it, so he can build and not trade away assets.

The Flyers remind me a little bit of the Kings under Taylor, but with less mercenaries lately.

That's a pretty good comparison, considering how unstable the Kings were in net and the number of significant losses they suffered from due to injuries. Not to mention they also let a number of free agents go without replacing them.

If they miss the playoffs, I expect a house cleaning to take place in Philly.

One of the prerequisites for little kids to sing the national anthem should be that they can actually sing. Oof. She was as off as the Sabres are so far. Down 2-0 at home before the seats are warm. 90 seconds.

I always chuckle when a player (Glass) causes the opposition (Foligno) to plow over his own goalie (Fleury) and then acts upset at anyone but himself.

Glass seems to be easy to hate. The guy acts like such a turd.

If Buffalo had some decent defenders they could be pretty good.

Crosby is annoying and a whiner but he's such a treat to watch play when he drops the primadonna act.

Buffalo should take note there as that's how you stick up for your goalie.
