I would without a doubt. Shinkaruk, although very effective at this level, will have problems adjusting imo. Lacks the speed and strength. I mean he has a wicked shot and offensive instincts but I think it will be hard for him to make space for himself in the next level. Obviously he is not a physical specimen and his skating, although quick, lacks a seperation gear. Sure he can get significantly faster and stronger (and better defensively) but that is a lot to ask for in a prospect. He will probably accomplish 2/3 of those things, but not 3/3.

Pulock is as effective as shinkaruk offensively (when comparing positions), but is bigger, faster and better defensively (again when comparing positions). The only things I would have pulock improve on physically is his explosiveness, and on ice his willingness to initiate contact.

Lazar is below both (isnt showing the high end skill atm).

Personally, I don't see a fit there. They're 2 very good players, so I'm sure they would do well enough, but I think Pulock is better off with a guy like Rielly or Pouliot

What has Pulock done to consistently rise in your estimation, he wasn't your favourite 2013 draft pick a couple years ago, but since then you've had him rising, is it his offensive game, defensive game, smarts that you like?

The isles dont have a dynamic offensive dman like Pulock and he would round out thier D core.

How do you think his game and Reinharts game would be if paired together? Thanks
They would be fantastic. Both are a blend of offense and defense.

Just more positives viewings of him. Well rounded and his defensive game has really improved in the last calendar year. Along with that, he's proven that he can be a consistent offensive threat. Mix that with his leadership and intangible qualities and you have a guy that's a legit top 10 pick. Teams love guys with his type of character.

Saw him yesterday and wasn't blown away by his performance. It was the Wheat Kings third game in three nights, so very hard to judge talent.

What I liked: Excellent skater. Powerful crossovers and pivots, maneuvers the ice with ease. Fast and strong on his feet and has an effortless stride. One of the smartest players I have seen this year. Anticipates the play nicely and uses his smarts to push the puck up ice and keep good zone coverage on the defensive side. Active stick defensively. Booming slapshot.

The Not Likes: Not just this game but in most other viewings, I find that Pulock's game lacks intensity. I would like to see him play a bit more cocky on the ice. I find that he is a play starter rather than a play maker. Not taking away from his ability to contribute on the PP, but he definitely uses his passing skills most effectively on the breakout. Would like to see him use his body a bit more in front of the net to gain a dominant position rather than just lurking behind and waiting to pounce with his stick.

I could go on but there is just a snapshot of what I saw. Big fan that thinks he has value in the 10-15 area of the draft.

Agreed with that. This is the area where I have the biggest question: is it just a lack of intensity, or is it a lack of creativity?

Either way, he's a very safe prospect with a very high floor. Makes a great 10-15 pick.

Those looking to evaluate Pulock will also keep in mind he's currently playing with a bum wrist. In talking with him Sunday, he was pretty blue in general about how things have shaken down for him this season.

Quote:
Needless to say, Pulock pictured his season going a lot different last summer.

ďItís been a different year for me,Ē said Pulock, who has missed 11 games in all this season. ďI havenít had to work through the injuries like I have through this year. Itís something new and itís definitely very frustrating for me to have all this happen all in one year. I guess itís part of the game and not much you can do about it.Ē

Bob MacKenzie's survey of NHL scouts right before the draft had both Gormley and Fowler in the top 5 and both fell out of the top 10. That's people who are actually involved in the selection process, not some random scouting agency. Pretty crazy when you think about it.

Just a case of everybody having a guy at 4 on their list avaliable and than Murray going up with the biggest grin on his face

Definitely possible with a deep draft like this

This guy just seems like he is so under the radar, I've seen him play numerous times and I'm always impressed. He maybe has one of the best slapshots I've seen from a draft eligible player.

If he goes outside of the top 10 some teams getting a good value pick for him

Pulock's wrist is healing, last 8 games, 4 goals and 7 assists. 144 points in 183 games, I think he's being picked higher than a lot of people on HF think

I'll be very surprised if he doesn't go in the top 10. Kid seems like he does everything well.

For me, the thing that separates him from others is his leadership and his character. He's had to battle through tons of adversity (losing a brother in a car accident as a young teen) and is mature beyond his years. He's a future NHL captain if you ask me.

HP's Michelle Sturino spoke to Ryan yesterday afternoon. It's a 9 minute plus interview.
