He's right. Two total compliance buyouts which can only be done during the buyout periods in each of the next two off seasons. Both can be done at the same time if you want. The main caveat is that there are only two periods in which they can be used, hence Redden and Gomez being told to stay at home in order to avoid potential injuries which could cause them to miss that "buyout window". Obviously, that was stupid so the NHL did what they did with regards to those types of situations. As a result, the Habs still have one buyout left to use at anytime during those two windows.

I hope that yous are both right and if i am wrong, my apoligies. I still believe it is only one amnesty buyout this summer which we have already elected to be Gomez. The second amnesty buyout will not be able to be used until next summer 2014 unless we decide to let Kaberle play somewhere ese just like Gomez this year. If that is the case Kaberle's contract will still count against our cap next season.

Yes I am willing to part with Pleks and a 2nd and would do it happily for a top 5. MacKinnon, Jones, Drouin, Barkov......

My question was......and mainly for fans of teams that could finish in that bottom five, would Pleks and 2nd get us there? If not what about the top ten teams? At that point I don't know if I would do it though.

You're wrong.

In fact, it's expected that a lot of teams will use both buyouts this offseason, in order to accommodate the cap going down so drastically. You'll be able to have both Kaberle and Gomez's hits off the books by next year.

Well i must be wrong because that's now 3-1. I know that the cap is dropping from 70-64 million next year. If both Gomez's (approx 7.3 and Kaberla's $4.25 are off the books next year, why does everyone say will be in cap hell?
