Because points don't mean that much. Simon Gimache (sp?) had like 164 points his draft year and went 291st. This was probably a good 10 years ago or so but still.

Brad Richards had 115 and went 3rd round

Crosby
Giroux
Drouin
Fleury
Voracek
Huberdeau
Radulov
MacKinnon
Letang
Yandle

Two players I never got to see and regret it are Dmitri Kulikov and Sean Couturier..
Richards should be there too. He was unreal to watch sometimes

Anyone else thinking that Drouin is going to be the can't miss prospect of maybe the last 5 years?

He's on pace for 128 points in 62 games...only Crosby in his draft year put up that kind of pace (168) but he had been labelled the next Gretzky already and was the go-to guy on his team (whereas I think that McKinnon has more of that for Halifax). Drouin is just exploding onto the scene and forcing himself into contention for 1st overall. He has all the attributes of being a star and the drive to make himself into one. Not only that but he also elevates his game in the playoffs.

No doubt about that, but I never saw him play and the list was for people I did see. I also think Lecavalier should be in there too.

Okay, this is a common misconception.

1) Drouin is listed as 5'10.75. Mackinnon is 6'.

2) Look at any picture of them standing side by side on land. Mackinnon is clearly at least an inch taller than Drouin, probably more.

1) Where are they listed that at? On QMJHL's website they're both listed 5'11".

2) Maybe it's the shoes?

I was ranking Drouin 2nd "since Crosby". If you go all the way back to Fleury though, guys like Lecavalier and Richards were beasts in junior.

Vinny had 115 points in 58 games in his draft year. Richards had 115 in 68. They were both much better than Giroux ever was in junior.

Radulov didn't even play in the Q for his draft year. He had an unimpressive 75 points in his 19 y/o season, then had 152 in 62 games in his 20 y/o. But my whole point at first was comparing players on their draft years, not what they did as 19 or 20 y/o.

And by the way, Crosby had 168 points in 62 games... as a 17 years old. Radulov never ever came close to him.

What makes Drouin better than MacKinnon? Why is he thought of more highly than MacK even though MacK has had better numbers?

Well I think most places still rank MacK higher but Drouin was way better numbers this year.

Any reason why MacKinnon's not been able to keep up with Drouin? I thought they were linemates?

Sorry for al lthe questions, just trying to decide who I want the CBJ to get if they get first overall.

I would say because Drouin is more skilled and a stronger drive to win. They're both extremely talented.

Drouin's more skilled .. I guess that's all I got ...

But if was a Columbus fan I would hope for MacKinnon still ... Marketable, exciting and a better pro prospect IMO.

No, MacKinnon is taller. Drouin is not 5'11 ....

They are the same weight basically around 185-190, but MacKinnon is stronger, which often leads to the comments that MacKinnon is bigger.

If you had to pick one lol .... If I'm a CBJ fan, I would be cheering hard for any team that plays LA ... I'm not a Jackets fan, but seeing them go to the same team would be pretty cool, and I would then become a fan of that club lol.

Those height and weights have been the same since training camp in 2011, I don't go by those.
