Worst Sports Moment

What is your worst sports moment in any sport??

For me. Its tied between Bartman and the Rangers collapse in the 2011 Series.

Dale Earnhardt being killed during the Daytona 500. I didn't see it live, but when that happens to the legend of your sport, that's more than a tragedy.

In the same vain, Dan Wheldon's death a few years ago in Las Vegas.

And in the same category, Imola 1994. The darkest weekend in F1 history...

Hank Gathers dying- I was young and I guess it was the first time I realized something like that could happen. Plus watching him fall the way he did over and over as they replayed it.

Magic announcing he had Aids and Mario Lemieux saying he had cancer- cause back then you just expected the worst

Worst thing I ever saw on the field of play.

[I'm sure the topic's been done to death here, over the years, but]
the Bertuzzi assault is up there, too---

I also think that the fact that he only sat out 20 games for that savagery qualifies as arguably the worst miscarriage of sports-justice in the history of the Four Major Sports...

And all those stadium disasters as well.

Hillsborough

The Ibrox disaster in the 70s (before my time)

Accra Sports Stadium in Africa in the early 2000s

And sadly many more.

The Bradford team are wearing special training gear at the League Cup final in memory of the Bradford Stadium Fire that killed 56 back in 85.

Our collapse in the bronze medal game at the Vancouver olympics and Man City winning the title in the last minute last season.

That I've seen: Reggie Lewis's collapsing during an NBA playoff game against Charlotte, suffering from the same heart problem that would take his life a few months later.

Great examples posted here but Id have to go with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. While distantly removed from NA, its ultimately tragic when you lose the entire team and staff.
