Kevin Oklobzija @kevinoDandC - #Amerks rookie LW Zemgus Girgensons will play Sunday vs. Hershey. He has been out since suffering a concussion on January 12.
Kevin Oklobzija @kevinoDandC - #Amerks rookie RW Brian Flynn won't play Sunday or Monday for sure but coach Ron Rolston said it's not a concussion. Upper body "issue."
Didn't they say the same when Girgensons first went out? By the way Flynn went off the ice i'd say 99% chance it is a concussion.

End of 1 period, #Amerks and #Bears are 0-0. Very entertaining period. G Nathan Lieuwen with 3 or 4 really good saves in his AHL debut.
Not as bad as the score indicated. They probably should have had a 3-0 lead after the first but posts and not capitalizing on key opps killed them. They played a miserable second and because of the Teddy Bear Toss after the Amerks first goal promotion, lost all momentum to the cleaning up of stuffed animals after finally getting on the board in the 3rd and only down one.
Ellis and Pardy were both pretty bad. I'm still convinced that Tarnasky is a better option than McCormick in all facets. Lieuwen is fun to watch in that Haseky sort of way, minus the trust of it being Hasek. Still, he looked really sharp in the first.
They weren't good at all. terrible offensively, despite the shots. They weren't quality. Lieuwen made several spectacular saves, and let in several bad goals.
Physical but a little sloppy with the puck. Excited to see what he can do down the stretch.

I think being physical is really encouraging. You don't want someone to be hesitant in that department coming off a concussion (i.e. Tim Connolly, though that's an extreme), especially someone who's game is a physical one like Girgensons. As long as it looks like he is willing to engage in contact, that's a good sign. The sloppyness as Helo said is to be expected right now.
McNabb goal via the power-play gives the Amerks a 1-0 lead over the Bulldogs - 10:01 into the first period. Crawford and Varone with the assists. Update: Amerks lead 1-0 after the first period - shots on goal - 18-7 Amerks - Leggio back in net for the Amerks. In other AHL play, Houston defeated Toronto 2-1 via a shootout - so bad news for the Amerks, a three point game there.
Update - Adam makes it 2-0 - 1:06 into the second period - Girgensons and Pardy with the assists.
Final Score - Amerks win 2-0 - McNabb and Adam with the goals - Leggio with the shutout - his second one of the season - made 30 saves - Amerks threw 49 shots on Hamilton goalie - Tokarski. Amerks next game on Wednesday at home vs Texas Stars - game to be televised LIVE on TWCSC in Buffalo and Rochester - 7:05 pm ET faceoff.
2-0 Amerks win. Leggio with a 30-save shutout (quiet night until third). Goals from McNabb (PP point shot) and Adam (end-to-end, scores on slapper). 49 SOG for Amerks.

Recent stats for #Amerks G David Leggio are very impressive: In 9 starts since Jan. 18: 8-1, 1.67 GAA, .947 save percentage.
Because, you know, he's the only player on the Amerks.
Not sure what's the problem with people asking about the Sabres' best forward prospect on the Amerks in a thread on a Sabres board days after his return from a serious injury.
Girgs worked hard and was rewarded with an assist. He was physical and played sound positional hockey. Pysyk was terrific--his skating is a cut above anyone else who played today. He was fearless and very sound positionally. McNabb had his moments but like Pardy gave the puck away too often in the one on ones along the boards. Both those guys want to use their sticks to check instead of taking another step, moving their feet and thus properly using their size. Great break outs of their own zone -but they did not cut to the net when they had the puck--too many bad angle shots. And why do they use the Sabres 3 across crap when on a 3 on 2? a bad angle shot and 3 guys are caught deep with the puck heading back to our end with all their guys facing in the right direction..For Pete's sake how about playing the third guy a little higher? Or run a little interference and let the puck carrier curl in behind--that play is killing the Sabres and was the Bulldogs best offensive move today....Leggio was solid but his big tests came from goalmouth scrambles.
2-0 Amerks win. Leggio with a 30-save shutout (quiet night until third). Goals from McNabb (PP point shot) and Adam (end-to-end, scores on slapper). 49 SOG for Amerks.
