We waive him. He's not even more useful than Weber at this point.
Are you kidding? Weber is behind Kaberle on the depth chart. Nokia is an excellent face off man that doesn't take dumb penalties like White does. You can flip White and Nokia in and out depending on the club.
Room needs to be made so I'm expecting a trade. Placing Nokia on the waiver wire means we'll lose him. I don't want to lose a good faceoff man with a right handed shot.
Wow, I didn't know that Nokelainen was drafted in the first round, 16th overall. And for some reason, I thought he's over 30 years old; he's 27 years old.
Players traded straight up for a 3rd rounder in recent seasons:
Brad Winchester
Nikita Filatov
Derek Morris
Steve Staios
Anton Stralman
Andrew Alberts
Jim Vandermeer
Darrol Powe
James Sheppard
I don't think it's crazy to expect a 3rd.
New CBA, new culture. The only player to go for a third rounder since January is Mark Fistric and that was one of the first moves made. Right now it's mostly 5th round picks and 7th round picks going for players. Things might change at the deadline but I think you'll see trade offers getting tighter.

I'm not kidding at all.
Of course Weber is behind Kaberle on the depth chart. However he is one injury away from being no7.
We don't need nokes unless a couple forwards get injured and even then we can call up equivalent players.
You clearly only look at stats. Nokia is a solid bottom six defensive player with good positioning. He isn't ever going to put up points but as a 13th forward he's great for the team.
Also, "one injury and Weber is the 7th D-man" 7th D-man still means he's out of the lineup! Also, Tinordi is good enough to give him an injury call up this season. I'd prefer to make room for that than sit on Yannick "Not working out in Montreal" Veber.

You could be right, although Weber doesn't compare to most of those guys. Like NTN said, new CBA, draft picks will be harder to come by with lower cap.
From best scenario to worse:
1. Kaberle traded
2. Noke waived/traded
3. Armstrong waived/traded
4. White clears waiver, going to Hamilton
5. Weber waived/traded
6. White waived/traded
I DO NOT want to see White traded or sent to Hamilton.
The guy may have been undisciplined but he plays with an edge and will learn the more he plays!
Exactly. White is a perfect fit for the 4th line, he does everything we need. He's not going to be taking double minors every game so no exaggerations needed.
There is nothing guys like Armstrong and Nokie can do that White cant, and there are some things White can do that neither of them can or will attempt.
Keep trying to trade Kaberle, anyway. If Nokelainen is back before the roster expansion and we somehow still don't have any injuries (?! is that even possible ?!), then he obviously gets the max conditioning stint in Hamilton anyway. That'll buy us a little more time. And get a sense of where his play is at too... he was borderline before, and hasn't played this year, so it's entirely possible he just can't make the cut.
It's all observables, can't really make a decision what to do *now*, and there's really no need. It'll sort itself out, and waiving Kaberle or Nokelainen if that's what it comes down to is nothing to worry about.

Kaberle (remember when he joined us last season? Our PP% went up 50%) has more value than Weber. Currently, our Canadiens have one of the best records in the East so... why should they waive a legit NHLer? Btw, you acted the same way about Bourque last season!
Second to getting bigger and tougher in our back end, one of the things we must improve on before reaching Contender status is winning face-offs. I think you are undervaluing how valuable Nokelainen can be as a right-handed face-offs specialist. We really suck in the FO circle.
I say, if it becomes necessary, Weber for a 3rd-6th round pick.
