Why is Belfour STILL not a Wing?

SJ would have to add something for Detroit to take on that contract. As much as Wings fans dump on Holland, he's been smart enough to stay away from bad signings and Detroit doesn't have one bad longterm contract on the team. I'd rather see Osgood as starter than trade for Nabokov.

From what I read somewhere... Belfour was willing to sign for a low base salary with performenced-based bonus clauses.... they likely are hammering out those bonus clauses... will take a few back-and-forth I suspect.

I thought that without stevie and shanny that you guyz weren't that bad off. Maybe some salary could be coming back to SJ too? I hear ya about nabby last season, but ability is there as the only time he wasn't injured last year was when he was the best goalie in the olympics. And like I said DW might be willing to back Nabby's performance somehow.

Does this change anything?

Honestly, I don't see a way it happens. Sorry, but it just doesn't make any sense for the Wings.

As for what would be going back to San Jose, who knows.....is Fischer going to return at all, or is he still seeking medical clearance?
Belfour will make about $500,000 and will be a 1 year stopgap until one of Stefan Liv or Jimmy Howard steps up.

Nabokov signed a rediculous contract extension last year that the Wings would be absolutely moronic to pick up.

Thats the reason why Wings fans DO NOT want Nabokov.
