The most glaring need on the NYR is to fix the PP. The reason the PP is so bad is because we have no true PP Specialist/no one who is capable of bombing one timers from the point. With McDonagh, Girardi, Staal, MDZ we do not need a d-man who needs to play more than 8-10 min of 5 on 5 hockey. We do not want players on long-term deals or ones that will cost significant assets.
Problem is I'm having trouble identifying players that fit this mold.
Visnovski, Souray, Gonchar are who I can think of at the moment. What players on your teams fit this mold and what are you asking from us in return??
Corey Potter would be cheap and effective as a #6, PP specialist, he has a cannon and if paired with a good d-man he isn't a bad option. What could the Rangers offer. The Oil would love Boyle but the Oil would need to add to the deal.

Potter was Rangers property a while back. They didn't think that highly of him.
Paul Postma from the Jets could be an option and he will still only be an RFA after this season. Although the Enstrom injury makes him less expendable.
Interesting that this organization traded Tomas Kundratek to us due to the defensive logjam. Slightly more than a year has gone, he's rapidly grown into that 3rd-pairing PP specialist.
Rangers need a right D.
Postma may be a good fit for a 5th rd pick.
Weber is too inconsistent. But maybe a change of scenery could help him. 6th rd pick at best.
Pass on Franson, his skating is iffy, Torts would staple him to the bench.
Pass on Kaberle, MAB, Leopold and Brennan. They shoot left.

You can have Weber for a 6th round pick any day of the week.

Hopefully the Jets don't give up on Postma for a 5th rounder. Very little chance that pick gets close to what Postma is now, never mind where he might end up.
Big, great skater, cannon for a shot. He just needs to get a little better in his own zone.
Foster could be an option. We'd need to pair him with one of the top 4 though, 9/10 of the passes to him, he misses. PP time would probably be the only icetime he'd get, too.
When you've got Nash, Richards, Gaborik, Stepan, Callahan and Del Zotto on your PP and it still is atrocious, it's pretty safe to say that the problem isn't a personnel one.
I'd rather get a physical, stay at home guy like Sarich or Murray than a PP specialist.
