I don't know. I wasn't the OP. I think it's because Torts likes to roll 4 forwards and one of DZ or Staal, sometimes using McDonagh-Girardi less often. Stralman doesn't get much time on the PP.

that was an awful trade for the rangers, but reports are he asked for a trade and the rangers tried to do the right thing for him by moving him instead of keeping him around for depth...since then sauer suffered a possible career ending concussion, tim erixon was dealt in part of the nash deal, valentenko went back to russia, mcilrath got hurt over the summer...pretty quickly that depth and logjam thinned itself out (proof that you can never have enough depth)

even if stralman was an answer for the pp...we still could use a 3rd pair guy better than gilroy or bickel. so that would widen the search but not eliminate the need for a 3rd pair guy

The Canadiens have too many defensemen in the squad right now. We have Kaberle as the 7th d-man and Weber hasn't had much playing time to show his worth. He still has potential to be a PP specialist, he's got a great shot.

I think we should target Gonchar at the deadline, or try to get Alec Martinez when the Kings defense is mostly healthy.

I remember seeing a proposal along the lines of Del Zotto for Tyutin+Nikitin. I liked it, but I'm not sure if we should make a trade where we're not getting the best player back.

McDonagh-Girardi
Tyutin-Nikitin
Staal-Stralman
Gilroy

It looks good. Especially Staal on the 3rd pairing. I like it.

Or maybe Boyle+Gilroy+3rd for Hejda?

some good names being thrown out

McD and Girardi have been the first pair, occasionally Staal with Girardi cause well that's great too........Del Zotto has played some with Staal but ideally moving one to RD is not what they want.

I would think they want a RD...........Hainsey or Potsma from WPG.........Hamrlik or Schultz from WSH..........descent names

right now Gilroy is not sucking so he will keep playing but Rangers likely offer a 3rd for a rental...........Bickel cant be trusted in the playoffs and Eminger is on a two week 'conditioning; assignmnet , basically he is nothing more than depth as well although at times I like him over Gilroy

didnt think of Gonchar but you are right the Sens likely fall out of it with Spezza and Karlsson ouu.............he would help the PP and be a good rental, also keep him away from the Pens

a counter? i have no idea. the Jets are most likely looking for a young center back - but i doubt the Rags would be interested in moving Kreider or Miller...

as for the Habs - got some big 4th liner that likes to hit and can fight? we'll take him.

If Streit wasn't on the Islanders, I'd say he be a pretty good fit for the Rangers.

i'd hate to lose a 3rd in this upcoming draft knowing the Habs have had success drafting after the 1st round... but if that package could get us a heavyweight, i wouldn't complain.

Give us a 3rd and it is done. Boyle for Potter + 2014 3rd round pick.

Was at the game last night. Kundratek showed us why we didn't promote him. Very shaky in his own end.

The problem with the PP is not personnel. The problem has been tactics/execution. We saw last night what happens when the team decides to move around and Richards and Del Zotto don't **** around for 20 seconds with the puck at the point. If Richards and Del Zotto can't get it done then some depth defenseman we can pick up for a draft pick surely won't make the difference

Weber is not worth more than a 6th or Bickel if you prefer somebody who can drop them.

Postma has the skills, but does not have the bulk. He is knocked off the puck pretty easily. Maybe he will eventually get there, maybe he won't.

Edit: I will upgrade the offer to 3rd + Ryan Bourque for Postma.
The Rangers are not trading a roster player, except for Bickel. If this is not enough, then I'd rather go for a rental.
