What kind of frothing madman came up with that travesty? No way in hell the Jackets go for that. No way in hell.

OTOH, Aucoin is probably available for a pick or two.

Babchuck for a 7th. He can be really good on the PP with a crazy powerful shot/one-timer.... But thats about it. Fits the OP's request.

Is this a joke? Aside from Dion he's our only D that resembles any sort of threat in the offensive-zone. 8 points in 12 games with an average of only 14 minutes/game. All that and he's a big, physical threat. And you want to trade him for a 2nd rounder?

He's not getting traded.

Did our fanbase develop dementia overnight or something? Can nobody remember as far back as - what - four or five years ago? Granted, we definitely have a bit more talent now, but a PP featuring Jagr, Shanahan, Gomez, Rozsival, Straka, and Drury was not exactly starved of offensive ability. And it was the same crap then as it is now: "oh we just need to add a depth defensemen who can play the point on the power play and it will be fixed." I hate to rain on the optimism parade, but Ozolinsh, Backman, McCabe, etc. etc. etc. didn't work back then and a similar acquisition isn't going to change anything now.

Rangers need a righty #6D anyway, regardless of the PP.

Agreed. Except when you propose the need for a "#5/6 PP Specialist" you're going to get players who are at best marginal upgrades over Gilroy. I mean look at the names brought into this thread. Corey Potter? Paul Postma? Give me a break. What we need is a guy savvy enough in the defensive end and neutral zone of the rink to earn Tortorella's trust for 8-15 minutes every night. Not Andy Delmore.

Sigh... this was predictable. Brian Boyle gets put in the pressbox for two games for the sake of sending a message and Rangers fans flood the boards with Brian Boyle trades and valuation requests. Now, no matter how well he plays (such as in the last couple of games) everyone is going to assume he's on the trade block. This isn't an indictment against you. It's an indictment against the knee-jerk reaction of certain people.

Visnovsky would be a good fit for the OP's suggestion, I think he would make a nice fit with NYR actually.

Im assuming a 2nd+ would be the asking price seeing as NYI just traded a 2nd that could end up in the high 30's for him.

As everyone has already stated, the only players that meet your criteria that could potentially be available is Visnovsky. He can transform a PP, great passer, great shot. He's a top PP option. No way NYI trade him until they're out of the race though.

With the Caps struggling, I could see Mike Green being available. Problem there is a) what do they expect back and b) how do you fit him under the cap?

Despite the fact that the Rangers and Islanders rarely (I say rarely and not never because I believe they made a minor league deal recently) there's not a chance in hell the Rangers trade McIlrath within the division. If for any reason McIlrath is being dealt, he's going out west.

Would love to add Visnovsky, know that's not going to happen though.

They need a physical stay at home defender just as much as they need a power play specialist.

I too think Aucoin could do some work on the Rangers for little cost.

I agree and the two franchises have a history of trading with each other as well. Could be a good fit.

Yeah let's bring in another PP specialist to go with the 10 we already have and the other 30 we have had since the lockout, and continue to believe the coaching isn't the problem.

Justin Braun from San Jose?

Has good size, a great shot; can't get consistent powerplay now that Boyle and Burns are in the lineup full time..Sharks use 4 forwards on the first unit (with Boyle); Braun has to share time on the 2nd unit with Demers.

Other than some offensive prowess, he is decent defensively. Physical, but not going to throw any major hits. Good skater, especially for his size.
