I have a feeling our playoff roster will look like this:

Lupul-Bozak-Kessel
Mac-Grabo-Kule
JVR-Kadri-Frattin
Komarov-Mclement-Brown

With Orr/Mclaren subbing in and out depending on situations (if we get physically manhandled for instance). This will actually give us 2 checking lines to ease some stress off Grabo line

The 3rd line and 2nd line should be switched, I would take every player on the 3rd over any on the 2nd.

this

not sure why JVR would be on a theoretical 3rd line, he's a top 3 forward on this team.

I dunno, Grabo and Kule have shown flashes of their past brilliance. Imagine how potent we will be when that line starts clicking?

I think Grabo is really feeling the pressure of living up to his contract, losing the A, not doing his normal NHL routine and has been gripping the stick tightly and missing some easy opportunities. I still like his game and he has back checked really well this season. I'm expecting him to have a huge 2nd half of the season. Don't count him out yet.

Leo is my favourite player in the Finnish national ice hockey team. I always thought that NHL would fit better his playing style than KHL or Finnish league. I am happy to see that he is finding his way to your hearts too.

Just noticed that besides he is 2nd in hits he is also leading in faceoff % if including only players who has more than 20 FO.

He's an excellent 4th liner, sort of what Armstrong was supposed to be, with out the contract. Otherwise I don't know if his limited offensive upside could fit into a teams top 9. 4th line and penalty killer, he seems to fill those roles excellently.

I'm very pleased that he is with the leafs, he can play in my top 9 any day of the week.

But Leo over one of the greatest players ever (Selanne), really?

In my humble opinion, Komarov has made Kulemin very expendable. Maybe it's time for us to come to terms that Kulemin is nothing more than a 3rd liner with descent offensive side.

Kulemin is a solid trade piece but now is not the time to trade him.

plus he fits well in a third line roll, great defensive game, but badly needs to get his offensive game going again(seriously, before last season, he never scored less than 14 goals or so.)

Frattin definitely helps to make him a little more expendable, in fact the whole KGM line is expendable IMO to an extent.

Just watched an interview he did with LeafsTV. One thing he said in particular made me like him even more as a player on this team. To paraphrase:

Reporter: "Do you think the game against Montreal on Wednesday is going to be a physical one?"
Leo: "I hope so. I like that stuff."

hahaha What a beauty!!

Komarov was a 0.5 ppg in the khl, no reason he can't translate a little offense once he gets used to the new style of play.

Great interview, think the best part isn't where how he says he likes physical play, but how smitten he is with kadri's skills... Even despite playing with backstrom and ovechkin.

Also to add, kadri's passing reminds me of Crosby, his passes don't always work, but they are creative and even if they don't hit the intended players, they seem to still hit the g-spot .. As in they still end up in the dangerous areas of the ice, and end up in scoring opportunities. Now before people throw up their arms and go omzg he compare kadri to Crosby!!! I didn't, I compared their passing style, Crosby is faster and has a much better shot, and obviously is complete on nearly all levels.

Definitely. He seems to be a great teammate and someone I'm glad we have on this team.

Not to mention he is a massive physical presence: currently second in the league in hits with 78, only behind Steve Ott.

Love his grit.. kinda wish he had more finish to his game around the net, though.

Praising Leo K

While the Master's article here http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=417427 is a bit fluffy, the quote I love most is "Fraser estimates that a third of all fights and post-whistle scrums in Leafs games are the direct result of Komarov's pesky antics, even though he averages 14:14 minutes of ice time per outing."

I haven't seen him do anything but finish his checks. What has he been doing to annoy people so much?

Gotta love Leo. The question is does he make Kule expendable?

Great guy to have on the team, but no, Kulemin is hardly expendable because the Leafs have a guy that hits people a lot

Did Tucker or Domi ever make a more skilled player expendable?

Not sure yet but it's heading that way. Komarov does so many things better than Kulemin right now.

Love him on the team. if he can find his offensive game a bit he'll be great for us.

Can't complain for a 6th round pick

He essentially does Mike Brown's job on this team but with more skill and no fighting. He doesn't need to fight with guys like Orr, Mclaren, and Fraser on the team. He's a great energy fourth-liner who can step into a third line role.

While they aren't the same player, Kule could be one of the trading pieces we need top land a top end player - wether it be a Perry or a center.

Leo is great on the penalty kill, arguably more physical than Kule, and obviously checks more. While Kule might have more offensive upside, he certainly hasn't showed it during the last two seasons. Factor in salary, and I would be willing to part with Kule - something I wouldn't have said last year.
