Laugh all you want, he was ******** his pants, hence not wanting to go w/ Joe.
So you're speculating why kesler turned down the fight, meaning that your reason isn't a 100% fact & is actually just your opinion, but you're gonna treat it like a 100% fact anyways ....

Love the whole "LAWL KESLER WAS SCARED BRO" act. Who cares if he was scared? everyone in this thread would crap themselves too if jumbo joe wanted to throw down with you. Cut the macho crap and respect that Kesler didn't want to hamper his team by taking a pointless face injury.
Why would Kesler even bother to fight him? At that point of the series? Just a butt hurt Joe.
At that point was the opening game and faceoff of the Western Conference Finals. Brilliant on Joe's part to try and set the tone and intimidate from the get go. Smarter by Kesler to not give into it.

When a line is dominating a series as much as getz and perry were doing in that playoff series, and your line is being relatively shut down you got to do something to stop em. If you watch the getz jumbo joe fight from the ducks feed they show joe chasing him around trying to get that fight. I think getz finally gave him the fight as a consolation prize for being knocked out of playoffs.
Perry tried to give marleau the same option but guess he didnt want that.

Thornton tried to fight Getzlaf off of the opening faceoff of game 5. Getzlaf wanted no part of it. Joe scored a goal and had 2 assists that night. I wish Getzlaf would have cowered out in game 6, too.
If Marleau would have fought Perry, they would have been kicked out of the game since Joe and Getzlaf were already fighting. Plus, Perry is a wuss, so I really doubt Marleau was scared of him.
As for Kesler, he didn't have to fight and he didn't. The result of the series has nothing to do with the fact he declined and looked pretty bad.

How on earth did he "look pretty bad"? Why the hell would Kesler fight off the face off like that? Kesler can't fight for ****. That would have surely been a momentum swinger in the Sharks favour. He would have looked like a straight dumb a*s if he fought right there. Good decision.
In Raymonds case, a little quick elbow jab to Thorntons face may have been appropriate. That what's I would have done at least.

He looked bad in the sense that he looked intimidated by Thornton. It was smart not to fight, but didn't he talk about fighting after the Nashville series?
