This does nothing for Buffalo, if Regehr is moved it will be for futures. Not an impending UFA

I think the hope should be to package Penner, Bernier & some other spares for a really top quality 3rd liner.

Why are you obsessed with dealing Nolan?

He has no offensive upside which we need on the 3rd line. We have a had time scoring. We could bring up kozan vey toffoli anyone would be a upgrade on the 3rd line.

A) He's not there for scoring, so if you're expecting it from him and guys like Lewis, you're expecting it from the wrong guys and B) he's in his 3rd pro season. Give him a chance.

I know hes not there for scoring but a 3rd line rw needs to chip in something. This team needs to start scoring and if u bring up someone that can it would help this team alot. Lewis while not scoring has stop the puck from going in at least 5 times this year and helps out on the pk Something nolan doesnt. Nolon is turning into westgarth playing more mins. This team needs scoring and im willing to give a younger player kozan or vey or toffoli a shot at it. We have right now richards playing a 3rd line center he needs more talent with him. Nolon can go to mancheaster and try to develope his game and bring someone esle up.

I'd rather just trade Leopold for picks/prospects. He's returned quite a few second-rounders in the past on Deadline Day. Not saying he's worth that now, but I bet we could at least get a third for him and I'd be happy enough with that at this point. Someone will surely give that up or an alright prospect (Greg Zanon for Steven Kampfer) for Leopold. Way better than just trading him for a guy who's playing poorly and that we might have for two months and get nothing out of as we miss the playoffs and he walks July 1st.
What is the liklihood of getting anything out of a 3rd round pick? Looking at stats it looks like outside of playoffs Penner has done nothing for the Kings. If he clicks in Buffalo he may say it works for me here. So there is upside in him worth taking a shot.

With Leino potential out long term he could take over Leino's role.

physically he is the type of player the team wants.

What about Simon Gagne? Would rather have him over Penner, wasn't he a healthy scratch the other night or am I mistaken?

I could see that but it'd have to be more than Leopold.

Why? salary is about the same...Leopold is in his walk year and you need defense help this year.

Stoll production has significantly dropped the past year+. He still has 2 more year on his contract.

Personally given his salary....it isnt all that much different than signing Gaustead for the same amount. Gaustead was way overpaid by Nashville...but they used Stoll's contract as justification of pay.

How much more? You can have Luke Adam if you want a bit of a reclamation project, or picks, or a B prospect like Gauthier-Leduc, etc.?

Stolls production dropped because he went from a 2nd line center to a 3rd line center when we acquired Richards and most of his pp time went to Richards as well. I still think that if you dangled both leaguewide, Stoll would fetch more than Leopold. That's why.

If you want Penner for Leopold or Gagne for Weber +, or Richardson + for Weber than sure sign me up. Otherwise I don't see anything happening.

Likelihood of getting something out of a third is a lot higher than getting something out of say, a seventh. A third can be used in a package for another player or to trade up in the draft. It's not a useless pick.

Leino's likely out for the year. I still find it highly unlikely he's bought out this summer like so many people seem to think. He'll back be for next season after a full offseason of recovery. Sabres aren't going anywhere this year. It doesn't make sense to trade for other team's UFAs instead of futures.
