Swedish defencemen

Who will win the most individual hardware in their career?

I'll take Erik Karlsson out of this poll because he'll run away with it if he's in it.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson
Jonas Brodin
Adam Larsson
Victor Hedman
Tim Erixon
David Rundblad

For me it's between Hedman and OEL right now, need to see more of Brodin.

None IMO. A lot of good defenseman on that list, but I don't think any of them are Norris material.

Adam Larsson will win one or more Norris trophies methinks.

If Edler can pick it up right now then I say he wins Norris. He is currently tied with Karlsson.

I think you've been desensitized to typical Norris-level play.

But I'm just not sure OEL or Brodin will put up the points. I'd go with Larsson or OEL if he can put up the points. Brodin blew me away the other night, kinda like OEL does, just don't know about the offense.

Anyone that wants to win the Norris in the next little while is probably gonna have to keep up with Karlsson offensively. Because Karlsson's ain't gonna be a slouch on D and he's gonna control games like no other.

Judging by the quality of Dmen around the league, I could see none of these guys winning a Norris.. but if I had to go with one, I'd go with OEL.

Conditions are good for Edler to get serious consideration.

Karlsson injured
Shattenkirk and Pietrangelo splitting the spotlight in St. Louis
Enstrom playing in Winnipeg, where there is no spotlight
Chara and Weber not producing
Suter off to a weak start in Minnesota

Unfortunately Edler doesn't have a particularly good defensive game. Right now, Pietrangelo deserves it.

Edler hasn't played particularly well this season imo... not a Norris calibre defenseman for the most part, except when he goes through his crazy sprees where he's dominant. If he can maintain that for a season, THEN he'll be a Norris calibre defenseman.

Apparently the Norris now = Whichever defenceman is leading the league in points at the end of the season.

Shattenkirk for Norris!

Three players there have Norris potential (Ekman-Larsson, Larsson, and Hedman). It's definitely not destiny that any of them will but they all have a solid shot considering all will likely have periods of time where they're top 10 defensemen.

If I had to pick one, I'd say Hedman. He's showing a lot of offensive awareness this season and I think he's been great in all other aspects as well. If that continues, he could turn into that Pronger-lite people thought he might be.

The other three won't be number one defensemen in my view so I don't consider them for my choice.

Quite possibly so, but my Norris candidates for the next generation are basically:

Karlsson, Pietrangelo, Letang, Weber, Chara, Doughty, and undrafted/prospect defenseman.

There's a heck of a lot of talent on that list, just not convinced that any of the guys in this thread can beat all of them in any given year.

But hey, I've been wrong before.

I think OEL got the best chances. Some of the other might take some strides and become better. But taken what we know now I would bet on OEL. Leaving out Elder must be an omission, let the votes decide.

Exactly that, he's too old for this poll.
