Is each team entitled to two amnesty buyouts before next season?

Martin is playing every bit like a $5 million defender. You can't ask much more for $5 million than a guy who plays 26 minutes a night, is a rock in his own end, and has helped revive the power play.

Dany Heatley is looking like and old man on the ice, and he's only 32. At least in 2011-12 when he wasn't scoring he was still playing good hockey. This season? He's being out-played by kids on the team making 10% his pay. Don't know what his deal is this season.

Nope. Since returning to Calgary he has 15 goals, and 15 assists in 40 games. That would put him on pace for 30 goals, and 60 points over the course of a full season.

That is not a player you buy out. Six million is certainly a hefty amount of money to pay such a player but considering he only has one more year remaining on his deal it is by no means an anchor for this organization moving forward.

Mine would be either Williams or Stoll...

He seemed to stop caring ever since leaving Ottawa. I always wondered if being literally kicked out of San Jose might have "woke him up" but evidently not. Barring a drastic improvement, I could see the Wild cutting ties with him as that contract is horrid.

Savard cannot be bought out by Boston. Players on LTIR cannot be bought out.

Panthers:
Scottie Upshall.
3.5 million dollar twig man.

They should buy out Jovo, but I guess he adds something in the lockerroom

I still don't see the Wild parting ways with him. Has he lost a step or three, absolutely. Is he worth 7.5 million dollars a year, absolutely not. But he is also not getting paid 7.5 million dollars, his actual salary for next year is 5 million dollars. Which is atleast an ok amount.

The fact of the matter is the Wild are a low scoring team and Heatley still has a great shot. On a line with Koivu and Parise his role is to find the soft spot in the slot, and let them get him the puck and he is doing that fairly well with 9 points in 15 games, 5 of which are goals(2nd on the team). If the deal was any longer than one more year, they would probably cut ties. But as they have about 13 million in cap space to to fill 5-6 slots. They will be fine capwise, with the exception of Clutterbuck or Backstrom, the rest of the slots will be filled by ELCs or RFAs making a million. A team that can't score is not going to cut their third leading scorer, and only save 1.3 million dollars(1/3 of his 5 million remaining).

TL;DR The Wild suck at scoring, while old and slow Heatley still scores. They don't need the cap room next season. Heatley stays.

Unless we're really in need of the cap space, nobody.

I sure hope Colorado kicks Jones to the curb and Montreal does the same with Kaberle.

Bryz probably gets bought out after next year not this. Even though he has played pretty well for us, that contract is gross.

Ehrhoff?????? WT.....Why?

His contract was front loaded with las year and this year being heavy, but actual dollars it drops considerably. next years salary is $M and will be that for the next 4 seasons..then its 3M, and 3 yrs at $1M with the cap hit of $4M per.

Leino...$4.5M cap hit...with next years salary $4M, then 4, 3.5, 3,5

Leino will be apossible mulligan...it depends on who is on the market and the teams cap situation. Same with Stafford.

The Sabres have about $13M cap space next year

UFAs: Leopold, Sulzer, Regehr, Scott, Hecht, Pardy

RFAs: Hodgson, Weber, Brennan, Enroth

Hodgson would probably get a bridge contract similar to Ennis of around $3M per, They probably offer Regehr something like 2 yr $6M
Leopold walks...
Scott, Pardy, Sulzer, Enroth, and Weber resigned for about total of $4M combined.

I feel they will make some sort of trade like Stafford+ Gerbe/McCormick for future picks/prospects just to unload their salary.

David Jones, just useless out there. Maybe they could eat 2 million a year and send him for a 2nd rounder though. I might prefer that.

Briere is more likely to be bought out. Maybe not this summer (if we can't replace him), but definitely in 2014
