Any kind of illness in a baby that young is high risk, but it appears whether it was baby or not, that the situation is resolved and I am glad to see Looch back at practice.

Looks like the flu like symptoms have all but depleted the team. Hope everyone is healthy by Thursday. Wonder if they won't call up a couple of Providence players just in case some of those 7 can't play.

As for the team squeaking by in all its wins-I still don't think this team has put on a 100% effort game yet. In the team's defense-while they may not have matched up against any spectacular teams (although Rangers IMO are a good team-slow start aside) they have probably faced 3 of the best goalies in the Eastern Conference in Lundqvist, Price and Miller.

I think this team needs to play a full 60, but the fact that they are finding a way to win when they aren't putting their best efforts on the ice is a plus as well. I would still love to see them notch a blow out game at some point. So far any goals seem hard come by.

Aint that the truth.

It never really goes away either. What we worry about shifts as they grow but worry never stops. At least not with me.

Yup. With every age, and every development, the worry just takes on a different focus.

I'm sure he'd prefer it that way.

Glad to hear about Lucic's family being OK. Illness in a small child is just so frightening.

Some scattered thoughts on practice:

They were so depleted there wasn't any real line work. They worked on PP reps quite a bit, with Krejci, Pevs and Seguin taking turns on the half wall, Lucic doing the butt-in-front-of-goalie thing, and Seguin and Marchand getting time in the high slot.

They also did a lot of work on shooting high, both from in close and from the blue line in. Chara, Seidenberg, Hamilton, Peverley and Seguin did a lot of one-timers, with Seidenberg ending practice with Houda feeding him for several minutes, until the net was practically filled.

They also did some work on tip-ins from directly in front. All the forwards were in on that.

For about the last half of practice they worked from the blue line in, with a mixed group of guys battling to score/keep them from scoring. The defensemen were mixed in playing on offense too.

It's easy to see why Hey-you-kids-get-off-my-lawn (aka Dupont) loathes Seguin - he has too much fun. He was smiling and chatting with Julien near the start of practice, then got into play scuffles near the end with Krejci, Seidendberg and of course Marchand, making all of them smile as well.

Big crowd at practice with school vacation, and Shawn Thornton absolutely made one teen girl's year when he smiled at a sign she held up for him. I thought she was going to either pass out or jump right out of her boots.

Addendum - tweet from Ference:

Thanks for the “feel better” messages. Much better this afternoon. I hope it hasn’t hit anyone else. 7 guys missing might be a new record.

I can't even imagine that, and I don't want to try.

The funny thing is that after the first child (or children), while you still worry about the next one just as much, you at least have a frame of reference and experience to draw upon, so not everything is scary.

Me either. Right now my 4 yr old son thinks the purpose of the pedal plane we bought him, is to take any living thing he sees out at the knees. People, dogs, his brother and sister. We call him Kamikaze Cam. You tell him, no Cam, you have to steer around things, and you push and show him. The second you let him go he has that look in his eye again, and you hear dogs running for cover. So far he does the same thing on skates, so, that part is good!

apparently there was a man dressed up as a potted plant outside lucic's residence. it was more of a tree than a plant, and kept saying 'thomas'.

Myth? You mean the same CDC that make and promote flu shots are actually pro-flu shots? Really? Lol. The real myth is that the government is here to help you.
