5. Red Deer - 68 points, 59 games played
6. Medicine Hat - 63 points, 59 games played
7. Swift Current - 62 points, 59 games played
8. Lethbridge - 59 points, 59 games played
9. Kootenay - 56 points, 58 games played
Hurricanes have a ton of games on note left, Red Deer x3, Kootenay x3, Medicine Hat x2. So things will probably get way more interesting as the season closes.
I am actually looking forward to next year where it is going to be much more interesting considering Oil Kings, Hawks, and Blades will be losing a lot of talent.
Blazers, Rebels, and Raiders are going to look really good in 14-15. With the Rockets being the team to beat.

I think it's pretty interesting this year tbh. Oil Kings could still be decent next year with Reinhart, Samuelsson, Lazar, Jarry, Moroz, Legault, Corbett all likely to return.

This year is a lot like the NBA; very few good team, but when those teams play damn it is awesome.
Oh I agree that Oil Kings, Winterhawks, etc. will still be great teams, but it will be much more even next year IMO.
I could see Oil Kings losing Reinhart and Samuelsson or at least both will have 9 game try-outs.
Kootenay bumps Lethbridge out of the last playoff spot in the EC. I dont expect Kootenay will be giving that up anytime soon.
Wheels have really come off for the Hurricanes. Losing to Prince George is inexcusable.
Ya. The loss to PG sucks alot, however better to lose to them than anyone in the East. I still hold out hope that the 'Canes can get in. They play the teams they are chasing so much that if they can step up and regain the form they were playing with earlier this year, they can get in. 20 year-old Daniel Johnston has been a huge loss on the backend, not sure if and when he will be back. Also captain Graham Hood has been out for a few weeks and the team seems to struggle without him too. Big weekend coming up. Two home wins this weekend vs Red Deer and Kootenay would go a long way.
Saw this on twitter today. From the Hurricanes colour guy.

Not that it would be the reason, but didnt their fortunes start going downhill after the Merkley trade?

Don't necessarily think so. I'm not 100% sure if this is correct, but I think I heard somewhere that they haven't won back-to-back games since November. So the slide seems to have started way before then.

What about next year 13-14 or did you mean that?
These teams do look good for next year but the Hawks are still going to be very strong despite losing Rattie, Rutkowski, Peters, Wotherspoon and Carruth along with probably Jones, maybe Leipsic.
They are still going to have alot of firepower but losing 3 starting D would be the biggest hole to fill.

I agree and the Hawks will be returning some pretty decent talent as well.
Of the 3 teams listed the Blades are going to see the biggest drop.
Their recent 10-0-0 streak sure makes their Memorial Cup appearance look better though.
I can see the Giants winning double the games they won this year but they still need an offensive leader, some really good young pieces there though.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the Canes in Vancouver this Friday, saw them just dominate the rockets in the final 10 minutes of a game on TV about 45 days ago and look forward to seeing their young talent.
I'm going to get back into talking some DUB. Has been a while. My Rebels have gone on a great winning streak and with a big win last night over the P.A. Raiders we move into soul possession of 4th place. On the other hand my Oil Kings have been on the loosing side of things lately but It's only been 3 games, albeit spanked in those occasions on this US road trip but we'll turn things around. I'm not panicking.
Rebels VS. Meddy Hat Tigers today! Should be a good one.
Well, that sucks. The Rebels just didn't come out to play tonight. They dug themselves a hole to deep to get out of and in the end fell in a close one 5-4. All are penalties didn't help the cause of winning. We came close in the 3rd but again as said the hole was to deep. Hoping for a better results VS. the Red Hot Sask. Blades next up.
Went to the Rebels Blades game yesterday. It was dejavu of the Chicago Edmonton game. Just trying to stick around. Patty Bartosak was excellent as usual but our offence just didn't click. I can see why they've won 16 now, in a row. Red Deer goes into Kootenay for a game on Friday. Hope we can get back to the Win column. We need to keep pace with Prince Albert.
Hope the Oil Kings can pick up a Win tonight, even though it'll be hard. As said "Clash Of The Titans." Should be a great game. Really liked our bounce back game against Seattle.
Also nice to see my Cousin(Justin Feser) Light it up for the Americans, a great WHL'er.
Canes jump out to an early 3-0 lead, but it is now 3-2 Lethbridge over Victoria after 1. Holding leads has been a huge problem all year. Have to hang on to this one to close in on someone. Hopefully Med Hat can beat Kootenay which would be ideal.
Dylan Wruck pulls it within 1 in the dieing seconds of the 2nd. 3-2 Portland going into the 2nd Intermission. Close game. Ewanyk scored are other goal. Petan, Rutkowski and Leier have replied for them.
