Ottawa Interested in Marc-Andre Bergeron

Per TVA reporter Nicolas St.Pierre

It makes sense, really. Bergeron is probably the odd man out with the Lightning, especially when Brendan Mikkelson is healthy and having Gudas/Barberio in the AHL, while the Sens add a veteran d-man who can pound the puck from the point. It would also fit GM Bryan Murray's MO of looking for a player without losing anyone from his roster.

Take him please. I don't understand the love affair coaching has had with him the last couple of seasons.

I'm fine with that, if we are in playoff position we keep him and if we bomb we will still need bodies. If we start falling we can assume Gonchar will be gone by the deadline

Late pick or meh prospect. Maybe even future considerations which amount to nothing.

So they're giving up on the season and going for the tank?

On the bright side, if we were to bring in Bergeron, at least other posters on HFBoards will finally be correct when they say that our offensive defenceman can't play defense.

Would help the PP.

Too bad he's a trainwreck in any other situation.

He's a good offensive D. He can be the future mini-Byfuglien.

The man who single handedly prevented his own team from winning the Stanley Cup...

Honestly I'd rather the Senators not take him on because using assets on acquiring this guy seems like a giant waste.

You know the point in the game when you have all of the momentum, your keeping the puck in the other teams zone, your winning all of the board battles, and getting quality shots? Sending MAB out there instantly destroys that flow, he'll mess up a pass, fall down, get beat, or stop and watch.

We don't even need him for the PP. Take him, anything we can get back is icing.

Bergeron's shot is surprisingly accurate. Or at least it was.

... because this wouldn't totally go against the three year re-build. I hope to hell we don't waste an asset on him.

There is no ideal replacement. Liles from Toronto would be a good option.

Poor man Karlsson? Smaller than EK, slower than EK, but a shot like EK. That's not so bad.
