Zidane is my favourite soccer player ever... and many more true fans of the game will never forget what he accomplished in his life as a baller...
Zidane head charge

1) An act of physical violence that no "provocation" can justify, none, nada, zip, nill.
2) Automatic red card well deserved, no place for this in sports, even less in Soccer. I hope he gets a very hefty ban for it.
3) As the captain of France its possibly the worst thing you can do for your team.
4) Not the first time Zidane hothead's strikes.

Its the same as Bertuzzi's strikes, without the harsh consequences on the victim. Luckily for Zidane. If Materazzi gets any blame for this I'll be stunned, psychological harasment is part of all team games.

He retired from International selection. Fifa sanctions often applies to club play if I'm not mistaken.

Anyway I wont get into a big debate over this its not worth it. Soccer is not hockey, equipment, culture, very different. Last game for Zidane in International play, most leagues honor Fifa's sanctions over red cards. (Correct me if Im wrong but I think hes returning to Madrid next year)

Confirmed. Please all, get your facts straight.

I mean out of play violence and soccer doesnt mix. 1 punch and ur out, players arent protected for that and its not part of the culture.

if zidane wanted to, he would have punched that racist italians face in...but he let off. you'd think after years of mussolini, atleast the pro athletes would change their ways.

zidane was right in his actions, and i'm sure if he played one more game and was called the exact samething on the pitch he'd have no problems doing the exact same thing again. if i were called 'a dirty terrorist' and had death wished upon myself, my family and my sick mother...i would have knocked the guy out into the next millenium.

i only wished that zidane headbutted him in the face instead, so he could have broken the idiots nose.
