So I'm going to Vancouver for 2 weeks in April and I scored a ticket to the Canucks Hawks on April 22nd. I cannot wait. I haven't been to a Canucks game since 2004 and haven't been to one in Vancouver since before 2000. So so so so excited. Especially since I won't be going to any Jets games this year.

Glad to hear that! I went to U of M and was pleasantly surprised that my dorm had more Canucks fans than any other team (this was up to 2010). I love the connection, however vague it may be now, between Van and Wpg
I visited the Met for the first time this weekend. What a fantastic space to go and watch hockey. I was blown away. I will definitely be making many a future venture to this joint to watch the Jets - and playoffs.
Welcome to Winnipeg, and welcome to the Jets section of HF Gryph!
Sorry, I can't help you on in regards to lacrosse, hopefully someone here can.
The real question is, Jets or Leafs?????? Careful with your answer.
Jets all day. MLSE is too caught up in running the leafs for max profit, very refreshing to see owners who truly care about winning..and are patient enough to develop the team properly in order to get there

Upper scale looks. How is the menu and prices on food and drink?
The menu prices are reasonable... the food quality... well... it's a Canad Inns joint. The food is okay, as long as your expectations are not very high. The only pub in town that is great for watching games and has lights out pub food - at least that I have been to - is Tapp's at the corner of St.Mary's and Dakota.
The Metropolitan is a GREAT place to watch a game. The venue is incomparable. You feel like you're on board the Titanic. The screen is massive (Cineplex on McGillivray sized). The atmosphere is decent - though perhaps a little bit cavernous is you like the elbow-to-elbow seating of Tapp's for example. Service is surprisingly good, considering how much mileage the staff has to cover to reach certain tables. The venue can accommodate a group of any size.
All in all, everything but the food is fantastic, and the food itself is okay. It just won't likely knock your socks off. Prices are comparable with Tavern across the street (same ownership group).

Cool, thanks for the info, I'll check it out next time!

Really is a cool place. My only complaint is they need to do something about the railings on the second level, they're not that obtrusive but they do get in the way.
So, Oscar Pistorius has his girlfriend staying over. He hears a noise from the bathroom, and instead of thinking that his houseguest might have had to use it in the middle of the night, automatically assumes it's a burglar. He doesn't bother turning on any lights. He doesn't check to see if his girlfriend is beside him, or nudge her or rouse her. Instead he gets his pistol, and (still lights off) and fires four rounds into the door. Which is locked, because you know...burglars enter through the bathroom and then lock themselves in it.
That's his version, as he told it in court today. He says it was a complete accident and thought it was a burglar.
Just curious since, we were on the topic of best places to watch a Jets game (not counting MTS Centre itself, or your own living room/basement), I would be interested to hear what everyone's favourite joints are.
Just for kicks, mine is as follows...
1) Metropolitan
2) Tapp's
3) Fox and Fiddle
4) Tavern United downtown
...I imagine the Shark Club will cause that list to rearrange a little bit when it opens.
Very nervous yet excited for later tonight. Going to go to Highlander with a bunch of buddies for a skate. Nothing serious, just skates gloves and helmets, but it's the first time on the ice since I effed up my knee 3 weeks ago.
Knee feels good but I still think my doctor is going to suggest I get my meniscus scoped. Either way it's going to be great to be out there tonight
