Timbers bringing Frédéric Piquionne on trial, also likely finalizing deal with Sounders for rights to Mikael Silvestre. (Paulson did hint at multiple player signings this week)

Houston signs Hearts winger Andrew Driver.

Sounds like Andrew Driver's move to Houston Dynamo is a done deal (via @bbcsportsound). He's joining a top franchise there. #MLS

Former Manchester United + Arsenal defender Mikael Silvestre set to sign a 2 year deal at Portland Timbers. #MUFC #AFC
Looks like PDX got the rights to Silvestre.

EDIT: Paulson confirms

Shalrie Joseph will be a DP for the Sounders.

Final trade is Shalrie Joseph, 2014 2nd, 2015 2nd to Seattle (along with swapping allocation spots SEA now at No. 3, Chivas at No. 15), in exchange for....... taking Joseph off their hands.

Chivas won.

I disagree, they got picks and a better allocation spot plus a play who can help them win.

But they have to eat a DP slot.

Joseph is past it, as a DP it's even worse.

Don't even know why Seattle wanted him, TBH. Alonso, Tiffert, Rosales, Martinez, Evans, Rose, Neagle, Carrasco, Caskey, Lund and now Joseph, how many midfielders do they need?

HUH? Chivas basically paid Seattle to take SJ and are paying part of his salary...no way Chivas won.

That Seattle M is ridiculously deep..

Also you left out Zakuani...

They could easily trade one of the mid for help upfront or at the back.

Knew I forgot someone....

They do need help at the back, but they're likely going to sign Djimi Traore and Joseph can play some CB, not well, but he can play there. There are also rumblings that Tiffert could be bought out/traded, which would be even stupider.

Sure going to be interesting to see how they get their 'big money' striker now (Saviola, Martins and Postiga are rumored to be targets). Hopefully they can get by with Estrada and Martinez partnering EJ for now, but if either of them flop and/or if EJ turns into 2007-2011 EJ, there's going to be some problems.

I agree... Well Tiffert didn't exactly do well.... We could move a mid or 2 for help upfront or at the back.

EJ should be fine. We do lack depth though.

Hopefully Joseph returns to from..

If Silvestre plays for Portland like he did for Arsenal, I look forward to the Whitecaps matches against them.

Vancouver signed Honduras Olympic team captain Johnny Leveron. Not sure about them adding another defender, but I don't mind this signing.

Don't see why not. He basically carried Guatemala in the last round of qualifying.

Looks like Nigel Reo-Coker to Vancouver is done.

http://www.prostamerika.com/2013/02/20/77026/77026

Quote:
Reo-Coker will not acquire DP status in year one and that there will be performance related bonuses in any second or third year if he is to acquire it.
This is good to hear too, especially someone with the ego of NRC:
Quote:
“I am very excited and looking forward to this great new challenge in Vancouver. The MLS is a growing league, and growing in stature every year which makes it even more exciting.

I still know the best is yet to come from me as a player. I’m 28 and know there is more to come. I would love to contribute to this growing league and love to help Vancouver win the title.”

Reo-Coker to Vancouver done. Gives Portland two 2nd round picks to acquire discovery rights.

http://www.whitecapsfc.com/news/2013/02/vwfc-add-nrc

Rumored to be a 4 year deal, non-DP in year 1, with bonuses to potentially bump it to a DP in years 2-4.

QPR winger Hogan Ephraim may have just hinted he's on his way to TFC.

This would be a top signing for Nelsen and TFC, IMO.
