While everyone is dumping on Stepan, who needs to work on his skating but has been playing better lately, can someone get on Callahan a bit. He was terrible on the first goal, and just seems off. Just not the same player as last year (maybe we can trade Richards to Columbus for Dubi and Anisimov).
Your right. Callahan has been lackluster in the offensive zone this year for sure. I think everyone on this team has been pretty poor, even when we were winning.
Very disappointing game. The Rangers decided to play a road game at home tonight and got beat at their own game. One f the most boring uninteresting games I've seen in a while. Why didn't Torts tell Asham or Mash to fight to at least try to get the crowd into it?
I thought that all the Rangers had to do was finish out the second without giving up a late goal and they would've been fine in the third. Of course Montreal musters up one shift and puts one home to tie it. Then no response, bad.
Very frustrating tonight. No excuse really. They played a pedestrian game and didn't want to get too dirty. And are the Rangers the only team in the entire league that refuses to take one timers?? If Staal shoots it off the pass Montreal doesn't take a 2-1 lead.
At this point, I have to assume that our refusal to perform one timers is kind of like Speed. where the rink we play in blows up if we attempt it but only Torts knows about it.

Tried to go to sleep but can't. The Rangers made it easy to sleep during the game if I wanted to. I can't blame Monteal for icing the puck 900 times. You see the Rangers couldn't win a faceoff to save their lives. It's been the major reason the PP sucks. How many PP's do we have where there is a minute 30 left after we skate the puck back in the oppositions end. There is no grit on the PP. You expect Gaborik or Richards to come out of the corners with the puck? Monteal played La Trap the whole game. We never let them think they were playing in our building. you have to hit and be intence from the opening whistle. We played down to them and the Garden sold more Coffee than Beer tonight.
As frustrating as the team has been, I'm not on the fire/trade everyone bandwagon yet.
Lockout shortened seasons are weird. The 94-95 Rangers had like a 7 or 8 game losing streak and barely squeaked into the playoffs as an 8th seed with a team that had far more talent than this one. Richter never really found his groove that year.
Some players on this team have looked unfocused and out of shape. If this was a normal year with a regular training camp, I'd be willing to shake things up in a major way. But, under these circumstances, it's tough to tell whether poor play is an indication of how these players will perform from now on or if it's just lack of preparation from the lockout.

He coaches to save lives.
We at the New York Rangers front office are pleased to announce that Keanu Reeves has been hired to coach the powerplay.

Yea I always find it comical how folks on here give certain players a free pass.. Cally hasn't done much of anything this year but seems he always gets the free pass.. Maybe cause he's a homey?.. Not sure but I still think if you watch the little things Stepan does with the puck he out performs most of his Ranger mates night in and night out.. Granted needs work on his skating but he may be.. Just maybe the smartest HP on this team..
Off-topic, but I saw in the GDT that people were wondering about whether there was a blizzard in 93 or 96. I'm not sure if that ever got resolved (I got frustrated with the game and went to the gym instead).
There were, in fact, blizzards in BOTH 1993 and 1996. As a school-bound youngster at the time, I enjoyed both of them (and the school cancellations they brought) immensely, haha.
It's like the team needs to win them all or play their best each one. The only thing more pathetic than their play tonight is the amount of childish posts in this thread.
Grow up, the team lost a ****ing game.
Wow, you're my hero. I'm so impressed with your composure. All the rest of us really do need to grow up.
My least favorite type of poster: People like you with the "holier than thou" B.S, think that somehow you're more rational and calculated than other posters who display emotion. IT'S A MESSAGE BOARD...THAT IS WHAT IT IS FOR!! If you don't understand that emotion is a huge part of being a fan, then I don't know what to tell you.
I would try Stralman. He's the only defenseman who wants to shoot the puck on the powerplay. Because DZ surely doesn't want to. And that keep-in in the final PP, yikes!
