Is Gainey Done?

I hope not. I'd love to see Ribeiro, Bonk and Aebischer gone. If the rumours about Legwand are true getting rid of those three for anything would be great just for the cap space it would free up.

My guess is that gainey is done until after training camp. It will give Carbo and the coaching staff a chance to evaluate lines, rookies...etc.

I think Kotys will make the team and one of Murray, Downey will be sent to Hamilton. We do not need both of these guys on the team with Begin, Bonk and now Johnson being solid two way players.

Yes they bring a physical presence to the team, but they are too similar.

lol I didn't mean to come across as a jerk, I figured with your 5,000 odd posts you'd have known Sundstrom signed in Europe a while back. My bad if I came across that way, and the spell check - well I do that all the time for fun.

No hard feelings!

Completly agree with getting rid of those 3 but I'd hate to see Legwand brought in

I believe he's not done. But he won't move now. He'll wait until everything is settled with UFA and cap room elsewhere. He's looking for a center for sure. He's not THAT blind.

Plus, he's probably waiting for training camp to come around. He wants to see the rookies do their stuff to see if there will be surprises. Plus, some of them could become solid trade baits if they do good. Never know. Bob is known to throw in a prospect in trades.

I want them gone too but let`s not take our desires for reality. That takes two to tango and trades do not happen magically. Unless Bob just give Ribs for free...

why addnig Sykora when we just got Samsonov, who's a very similar player to them? Add Johnson to the mix and we just filled two roster spots. That's enough for me.

and the guy who talked about Legwand. Why would Nashville want Aebisher? They already have Vokoun, who plays 65+ games. and they resigned Chris Mason for a couple of years.

kosty can play the first 20 games in ahl with Mikhail Grabovski and if lats doesnt have it up comes andre and lats back to juniour . seems like this might be the plan to me .

You still dont understand my post. I said theres one spot left and thats Sundstrom=that spot for the kid is Sundstrom's being in europe, not Perezhogin's.

OK, so, you want Niedermayer or Pronger ?

Well, just joking...

Now that Gainey has taken all of us by surprise once again and everybody's imagination is building new trades, Gainey will stand pat forever... Well, at least until nobody expects another move. And that's when he'll shake this team again.

Really, I don't expect much before the training camp now. And I'm glad there's no waiver draft anymore, 'cos we'll have to dump some guys on waivers anyway...

I do expect the Aebischer situation being solved mid-term though, I'd say before the end of 2006.

As far as Ribeiro/Bonk are concerned, I'd like to see upgrades too. But I think the staff will wait to see if there will be any upgrade from inside at the camp.

Everybody seems to consider Latendresse and Chipchura as serious candidates for a roster spot.

Well, we already have 13 NHL forwards, with Downey and Murray both candidates to be demoted.

But, with Latendresse and Chipchura, you can pencil Kostitsyn, Lapierre and Ferland as strong candidates for a NHL spot, with possibly Grabovsky too.

That's 19 forwards. Of course, Latendresse, Chipchura or Grabovsky have (almost) no AHL experience and have time to adjust and graduate later, but still, do we have an interesting wealth !

It sure is more exciting than 6-7 years ago.

We should go for Gomez (or any #1 center that becomes available) and dangle the likes of Perezhogin+ to get it done. Don't bail now. Almost there Bob... clean up that mess we have at center and we can actually compete this year.

I can definetly see Gainey being part of the vultures circling the Devils once training camp starts.

One thing is for sure: Gainey isquite astute. He`s very patient and seems evidently to try to biuld a team wich will be good for a long time!

He`s got the CH tatooed on his heart as we say in french!

Is Gainey done?

well...

Translated that, sure there's a spot available. BUT, if there's 3 ready to play in the NHL, we'll make room for the three...

Ryder? Please no.

Souray? Not now but I definitely expect a trade during the 06-07 season.

Abby? That's kinda inevitable. If not, he'll play backup this year and leave after the season.

Ribs? No, but this year is his last chance.

Lang? I don't think so.

Kovy? NO WAY JOSE.
