I wonder if this is the work of jd.... maybe a position in the scouting deptment has a opening? hmmm
I would be surprised if it was the Blue Jackets. I don't see Burke being a great scout and I don't see him fitting into a front office slot where he is third fiddle to JD and JK.

I agree and o/t, anyone know what job was offered to Howson? Did Howson decline?

This. No way Burke would come aboard to us just to work behind a brand new GM.

The TSN guys speculated that it might not be front office work. Maybe scouting on the road. Burkie pulled off the Sedin coup, and has a few other sterling names on his draft record (and his fair share of duds), so I would think him qualified.
Amateur scouting isn't Burke's forte. Burke has built teams via NHL veterans for the most part. As a pro scout or as an advisor, similar to Craig Patrick, Burke would have value. In fact, he'd be a good complement to someone like Jarmo who is clearly most knowledgeable at this point about the scouting side of the game.
I only see Burke making sense for us if Patrick is leaving and the team wants someone else to fill a similar type of role for Jarmo. Not sure how necessary it is with JD already in the role of president.
Really doubt it's Columbus, though it wouldn't be a bad idea. JK's a scout guy, which is what's been missing for years. Burke would be a huge help with signing and trades. I can't see him doing it though.
Get Burke all liquored up on scotch before each game. I could see him beside the pepsi girls with his tie loosened, hair rustled, shirt sleeves rolled up, a rock's glass with 3 fingers of Cutty on ice...you know, pretty much the way he looked at the last 2 drafts.

Boomer. Wearing the suit.

I wouldn't think it'd be offered yet.
I'm holding out hope for Assistant GM.

Thanks, Howson, for cleaning up MacLean's toxic waste. Welcome, Kekalainen; let's get good things built!
As for Burke, I don't think he'll be joining the CBJ in any capacity.
As for Howson, I think he might be offered a non-management position. I have no idea whether he takes it.
As for Viqsi, I'd just as soon she stay around here.
