NYI and Ott

Just finished watching the game, and it occurred to me that the Islanders could benefit from the quantity of depth at different positions from the Sens.

So the is a quality for quantity trade.

Niederriter for Bishop, 1 of (Boroweicki/Gryba) 1 of (O'Brien/Daugavins/Regin)

or similar type of trade.

I honestly do not know how well NN has been developing, but the addition of 3 NHL bodies to the Islanders could help them quite a bit.

Ottawa needs to make room for some of their kids (well outside of injuries of course :p) so this is the kind of trade they should be looking for. The Islanders need young depth players that can play quality minutes to help the tog guns

what exactly made it occur to you that the isles could use bishop? the fact that the nyi goalie can't catch the equivilant of an infield pop up during a slo-pitch game?

ps...that deal will never happen. i don't even have a counter for you...

I would do...

NYI - Bishop

OTT - Niederreiter

...maybe. Nino isn't exactly inspiring confidence right now.

EDIT:

NYI - Bishop, Puempel, Benoit
OTT- Niederreiter, Streit

Feel free to counter.

NN for Bishop + who?

Greening, Condra, Boroweicki, Gryba, DaCosta, Hoffman, Noesen, Prince, Peumple, Daugavins, Wiercioch, Stone, Benoit, Regin, O'Brien, Smith... miss anybody??

There has to be enough quantity in that list to make a fair trade.

I don't think a trade is out of the question, but both teams have the same weaknesses (NHL quality D-Men), they're both rebuilding and aiming at the same position in the standings.

Assuming neither team is willing to give up assets for free to a rival, it's kind of pointless to speculate,

if Ottawa asks for Nino, the Islanders ask for Lehner. We don't need depth guys to play in our bottom six, we need impact players that will be difference makers over the long haul.

As far as Nino to the Sens, Ottawa is looking at sending someone like Silverberg in return. Now, I know that either team wouldn't do that.

How about:
Cowan, Greening
For
Nino, Amac

Isles suffer the loss this year on defense, but still get an upgrade in the future. They also get a solid 2nd/3rd line tweener.

Ottawa gets a replacement on defense for this year and in the future, plus a solid winger prospect to play in the top 6.

OP's offer didn't give enough to the Isles, every subsequent offer has been awful for the Sens.

Cowen? For real? Not a chance.

Maybe. Puempel isn't inspiring confidence, Streit is a great player and might re-sign and Nino is also a "highly touted" prospect. Keep in mind there's a reason I'm hesitant given Nino's struggles.

But who am I kidding? I'm talking to the guy who doesn't think Spezza is that important to the Sens.

I hope that Nino starts developing a little more for you guys if he is your best forward prospect.

That's ok. I'll take the guy putting up a .93 save percentage in the NHL with #1 upside over the guy that put up 3 points in 64 games in the NHL and is struggling to score in the AHL right now but is supposedly your "best forward prospect".

If we really have to breakdown and explain why this is a bad trade for the Islanders then it will only be to satisfy the ignorance of a poor hockey mind
