Then you're not different from the casual fan who want to give garbage for quality and think that it's gonna work. The Bruins are not in the " contender wanna be " category anymore. If they have the chance to add a quality player like Alfredsson, they have to do it.

I don't see Ottawa trading him.

I do see Chia happily trying to work a deal though if Ottawa was looking to trade, and Chia seems to have a good relationship with the Ottawa front office still.

Alfredsson would be a good veteran to pick up, but at what price?

My guess is Ottawa would want youth over age, and likely picks.

Still have a really hard time with them trading him at all though.

We need a long term solution. Not an over the hill rental.

I don't see Ott trading him either. But if they want to put him on the third line LW that would be fine with me.

Caron + 1st +3rd for Alfie

I would not entertain trading Spooner or Koko at this point unless the Bruins are getting a Ryan O'Reilly back.

he should retire a Sen. but that's just me.,

While Iginla might be too costly for some in terms of what we'd send to Calgary (I get the impression late 1st, one of the betters prospects +), I think Brendan Morrow might be a good fit and I don't think he'd cost as much as Iginla. Might do better with a fresh start, too.

I think your right, Leaf fans would disagree but..

I just don`t see this happening, hardly a well thought out response from me but just don`t.

There`s trading within your division, then there`s TRADING within the division. Could see it now if this move is made, Alfie with the game winner in the SCF, the reaction in Ottawa would be insane. Sens need help with two major injuries but I just don`t see Murray abandoning his "rebuild" plan that, seemed to be about a year ahead of schedule with last years surprising year.

Murray isn`t afraid to make deals, but one involving the Captain who`s been a leader both on and off the ice and a great spokesman for that team to a division rival??? Sorry, can`t see it happening.

Theres the help on powerplay Bruins looking for.He can run it from point. No more clumsy Chara running it.Teams could not attack Alfie like him and get away with it.He to crafty and slick, the puck be down low in a mili sec and they know it. Only thing though Alfie is atop 2 line player.Who loses a spot? Morrow for third line be nice dreaming though i guess.

I love Morrow but I haven't seen him play much in the last few years. When Stars fans were looking to dump him, I took that as a warning sign. I wondered why they would want to trade such a warrior. So maybe he has declined pretty badly.

However, despite my last paragraph, I would still like to get him here. I bet he would get a push playing for a contender. IIRC he missed the Stars cup by one year. Seems like Morrow-Kelly-Peverley could be a pretty good line.

EDIT - this was kind of my inner monologue and I fell on the side of going for Morrow.

How do u figure that? Boston is trying to win a Cup here.Any players you can add that will help you win a Stanley Cup is worth it.I'd rather one Cup now then 40 more yrs of being mediocre.

I watched him play other nite and he looked pretty good.He was skating well and digging .And I agree with you.I think that be a very good third line.

and I agree with you. he had those neck injuries and they (fans, friends that watch the team) say he hasn't been the same. I dunno, I think I can't forget history/what he once was but would still be willing to gamble if the price is right.

when he's on, he's a beast and i'm hoping a new scenery would work well for him but i might be too hopeful.

Btw...I keep seeing Morrows name brought up in these threads, not something I see happening. Dallas is trying to make a run. They didnt sign Ray Whitney and Jagr to be sellers.

respectfully, this is 110% wrong. Alfie is as classy as Bergeron.

Think Brenden Morrow would be a cheaper, simular option.

Love Alf, no probs adding him... just feel price would be too high.

I think Alfie could really help powerplay.Just where do you put him at in lineup? He is a top 2 line guy and no way he will want play third line.Could be wrong though.

Parade rainer-on-er.

You have a good point. If they're out of at the deadline, though, which is highly probable, get him!

It will take more than Alfredsson, defense needs help too.

Marc Recchi> Daniel Alfredsson

thanks. I dont picture Daniel standing in front of the net taking a beating and chipping in the goal.

classy guy but not sure he's the "oomph" we need on the roster.

I have been pushing hard on Alfie since the lockout started. I WOULD trade Spooner for him, and a 2nd, and that would get it done IMO. Caron and a 1st works for me too. I think Alfie fixes so many problems the Bruins face right now, and he has CLOSE ties with Kelly and Z, and Chia knows him. OTT has got to to into total rebuild mold right now. There season is toast, and they should be moving everyone who is up at years end. Alfie included.

He is the 3rd line winger we desperately need.

Kills penalties

PP QB from the half wall or the point, or down low.

Leadership oozes from him the same way it does from Bergeron

He is a Swede, and could "chat" with Soderberg about the organization for us.

He is up at years end when we need the money.

Can play on any of the top 3 lines and be responsible defensively, and has a laser beam, creativity and a nose for the net.

He would thrive with 15-18 minutes a night, and could extend his career by another year or two.

Dream line up:

Seguin Krejci Lucic
Alfie Bergeron Horton
Marchand Kelly Peverly
Merlot

I actually think Alfie would re-up here on a 2 year deal, on fairly short money.

It works for me.
