Yeah right, if we liked character would we have kept guys like Landeskog and Duchene around? Would we have traded away a great character like Manbearpig? Would we have drafted exclusively 5'10" character forwards?

That's right. Who we really need to be going after here is Tim Tebow.
MDZ is definitely not fleet of foot but he isn't slow. He has gotten better with his footspeed since he got into the NHL. I can't really remember the last time he got "burned" and he is rather aggressive due to the Rangers style of play.
He will not be a puck-rusher, more of a distributor of the puck.
I do. I remember it as if it was yesterday. Oh. It was yesterday. He had a yard on a Canadien and was two yards behind when they reached the Rangers faceoff circle.
Posted this a couple of pages back TPS, but didn't want you to miss it, your response would be interesting on this matter.
A Bruins fan on the Trade Board pointed me in the direction of a Twitter ran by a Mr. Dominic Tiano, who apparently does the following, according to his Twitter Bio: "Cover the OHL's draft eligible players for the NHL Draft for OHL Writers and In the O Radio", here's some of his Tweets on the matter.

There's an unsigned RFA who was back home in Clinton Ont., hasn't asked for a trade, but said would " like to one day play for the #Bruins "

Feel like I need to clarify my tweet on "Ryan O'Rielly" from other day but will only say: He was back home in Clinton practicing w/ ...(1/2)

...Junior C team and was behind the bench for a game Friday night. He has NOT asked for a trade.
What I find interesting is supposedly the Bruins are the team that he'd "like to play for one day" as stated in the above Tweet. So again, something that apparently got overlooked. This Dom gentleman is to the Bruins board what you are for us....if you just want to respond w/ a simple "Yes" or "No" that'd be fine as well

With the talk about O'Reilly's camp being upset about the Duchene contract, how he glorifies character over skill in his ramblings, you have to wonder if Baba O'Reilly has resentment towards Matt Duchene.
Same draft. One drafted number three and is disgustingly naturally skilled and one drafted 33 and has to work for everything. There might be some envy there.
Or it's possible that he puts character, like he uses it, on such a pidestal that he thinks the hardest worker should be the best paid guy because it's such a glorious trait.
Who knows? Frustration situation leads to silly speculation. Please let this be over with already so we can focus on players that want to be on the Avalanche.

You mean the awful giveaway by the wing on that shift to Erik Cole one of the fastest players in the NHL? The entire team was moving forward on the attack, the forward lost the puck, everyone was going the other way. It wasn't just MDZ.
I could name maybe 5 players who would have caught Cole.

Haven't heard anything about the Bruins, but they may very well be in contact with the Avs. I've never heard O'Ry say he wants to be a Bruin, he never supported them or anything as a kid.
Anyways, only thing to take from that is what I've been saying since before the season started, yet everybody wants to believe otherwise... he has not asked for a trade. Also, he will not sign an offer sheet. Nothing has changed there.

So fast skaters don't count when burning del Zotto?

If you want to use that as a negative on MDZ because of that single play than you can use that on EVERY single defenseman in the league. That's what I am saying.

Ryan O'Byrne will teach him how to skate. Fret not.

The Bruins thing sounds to me like something he said to a Bruins fan just to be polite. And nobody here thinks he has asked for a trade it's Avs that seems to be looking for a trade since they can't get him signed nobody thinks otherwise.
Which makes perfect sense. I just think a straight up deal for MDZ or MDZ+Boyle is just a terrible package for us.
Yeah I can understand that. I am sure the Rangers could move other prospects (read not McIlrath, Nieves or Skjei). I actually thought the MDZ + Boyle for ROR + depth d-man was a good starting point for a deal. Maybe the Rangers add a higher end prospect like Thomas or something like that.
The player that the Rangers would LOVE I am sure is Elliott. They need an offensive d-man badly if MDZ is moved.

I still remember him scoring on his won goal in Montreal. Classic.
But I do remember him being pretty tough and physical at least.
ROB was really good last year as long as he didn't have to touch the puck for more than a couple seconds. But this year he's somehow gotten worse with the puck, forgotten how to skate entirely and isn't even useful around the net anymore. His game has really fallen off of a cliff.
