So you think the Leafs should be completely ignorant of his crappy start?
We have a goalie who stands on his head when we play him, the problem is he gets injured WAY too much. I'm just not sure coughing up value for Hiller is the right thing to do at this point.. Don't act like you can't see it.
Saying it is not the right fit is fine. Saying he sucks and is injury prone is just laughable.
Hiller to Leafs makes no sense at all the the moment. They have 2 solid goaltenders. Yes Nonis said he was open to trading for a veteran goalie but only for a reasonable price. I doubt he meant the pricetag Hiller would demand.
Anyway, with Fasth relatively unproven, it is a save bet the Ducks hold on to both goalies until the end of the season.
Now that Viktor Fasth has gotten his 2 year 5.8 million dollar contract you can expect the rumors of a Hiller trade to kick into high gear and with Dave Nonis going on TSN radio and flat out saying he wants a vet goalie Toronto will likely be the primary team in those rumors.

Haven't said either..
Not sure why you need to look for things that weren't said. I said he comes with a health scare (look at his numbers post whatever he dealt with). 4.5 million is a lot to pay a guy who may not be our #1 starter in March. Also we lose Scrivens to waivers who has shown ability.

Merged the three new threads. (Didn't want to add the old one with the Leafs in there, given the way that thread developed.)
EDIT: God damnit. I wanted it to be just "Jonas Hiller" without the Leafs in the title, but for some reason, I can't figure out how to edit the title anymore. The posts are already edited, but it seems like the merging made that title fixed. Or probably something else I can't figure out.
How is he injury prone? He had 1 freak injury which ruined his Vezina season. Last year he played 73 games
He was hurt again in the early part of the season, which slightly opened the door for Fasth. He played 73 games because the Ducks had backups that couldn't be counted on to win games for them.
like I said as good as Reimer seems to be he also gets hurt that is a concern. If Reimer could stay healthy we'd have no need for Hiller unfortunately so far he can't

The teams saying 10 days. I'm not sure a 10 day injury will justify trading value for a big contract goalie.

I'm a Ducks fan so i thing I have a better feeling for this then you do. He played last year because after December he was lights out and was winnign us games.
His "injury" this year was precautionary. He was feeling tight so they pulled him since Fasth was playing amazing.
I love Reimer BUT concussion last year, injured again this year he might be fragile. I know Hiller had a scare but overall he's been healthy
The concussion is a completely random one off even because of an errant elbow in the crease.
This year he has a sprain, it happens, and a lot of guys are getting these kinds of injuries this year in the shortened season with higher workload / no training camp.
I would say he has had a case of bad luck more than being Rick DiPietro...
Seems a bit too soon, no? You guys remember that streak Patrick Lalime had as a rookie then came back down to Earth? Same with Brian Boucher. While Fasth has been on an impressive run, the Ducks would be foolish to trade Hiller right now and bank of Fasth. It's way too early to entrust him at this point.
BTW I think the Anaheim/Toronto trade days are over or at least cooling down. With Burke removed from the GM position, I am not so sure Nonis has the same connection to Bob Murray.
He's worth at least a 1st + a prospect. Starting NHL goalies do not grow on trees (for those that doubt the value)
Hmmm so why is it that when Flames fans ask for a 1st and prospect for Kipprusoff we all get flamed? Just because of his age? Goalies usually can play to a later age and you guys should know age doesn't matter look at that tank Selanne on your team.
