Biggest rival

Who do you consider our biggest rival? The teams I will include are San Jose, Los Angeles, Anaheim, Detroit, and Colorado.

For me it's the sharks without question. Always hated that franchise.

I don't think we have one, to be honest.

Maybe Phoenix, but even that's a stretch.

That's my sentiment. But out of those teams I'd go with Anaheim and San Jose.

I really hope we can get competitive again and have that Colorado - Dallas - Detroit big 3 in the west again.

I've always felt it was Detroit. Playoff history most likely shapes that opinion. I also hate the Wings the most.

Anaheim is as close to a rival, imo, right now. Every single game is filled with fights and cheapshots.

But really don't have any real ones atm.

There isn't one, but I suppose the Sharks, Ducks, or Wings are the closest.

red wings are the most hated, but a rival has to hate you back. and the red wings dont care we exist.

the sharks are the only team i can think of that fits as a real rival. that we hate, and hates us back...

nashville has potential though, if we get in their division.

Every team in that potential division has a chance to turn into a big rivalry, IMO, especially if they go back to the divisional playoff system.

A series against Minnesota or Winnipeg would skyrocket into it. Don't even get why the past three games against the Atlanta/Winnipeg franchise have been so hostile, especially considering how far spread out they've been.

Shouldn't a rival be challenging?

Rivals tend to have a deep history. Like us and Edmonton.

This is why the league has to go back to the divisional playoff rounds.

Like Lobo said, a series vs Wpg or Minn, then include Chi, St. and Detroit? Ya I like the sounds of that.

Exactly, which is why I think the sharks are our biggest rival. They are pretty much the one team where the hate is mutual.

It's a toss up for me. ANA/SJ. I don't consider VAn a rival, but I absolutely hate them.

Edmonton belongs on the list but Dallas doesn't have a true rival.

Anaheim and Vancouver are probably the two teams I hate most in the league though.

Edmonton really does deserve to be on the list. There isn't hatred anymore, but you can tell the games with Edmonton are quite different than other teams.

To me it's easy: SJ Sharks

Both have been successful inside the division and the play-off series have been great(2008 was beyond great). Also the disliking has grown when both are able to win each other.

BTW I doubt NBC will bother to come west of Detroit in their "rivalry-wednesday" -games all season.. It's between NY,Boston, Pitt, Philly, Eastern-Canada every week..

Despite whatever results, I don't remember games between the Sharks and Stars being extremely competitive as of late.

Hasn't been since the 08 playoff series really. It's been extremely bad the last two years.

Theres been some good games but after '08 you honestly can't expect that regular season games get that heated..
