I hate to say this but then Avs need to fire Sacco and his assistants and then hire Ruff and his staff of choice and a franchise that won't pay for a full-time goalie coach simply won't do that. We have already seen Lacroix and his puppets pass on Carlyle,Hitchcock and Boudreau and they will pass on Ruff. Ruff might end up in Washington they can't be too happy with Oates.
What, someone who was able to keep his job for 15 years despite very limited on-ice success?
No thanks. We have one guy able to con management into keeping him employed, we don't need another.

I want Roy, but Ruff would be a good second choice. I say we should hire him as a scout. Just like Chicago hired Quenneville as a scout before he took over as coach.
One guy that would have people begging for Sacco back. People are nitpicking the generic coach jargon Sacco is saying I shudder to think how mental this place would go after listening to him.
Is there ANY indication that Patty Roy is ready to step into the NHL?

I think so. I think the $$$ is going to have to be worth it for him. His kids are grown up now but he's still heavily involved in the Remparts which make a mid-season change unlikely, if you ask me.
I don't think he's really waiting on Quebec City to get another team, that could take another 2-3 years or more for all anyone knows. Besides, when he was considered for the Montreal job, he mentioned in a press release that he was honored to have been considered and his goal is to eventually become an NHL head coach whether that's Montreal, Colorado or somewhere else. (He mentioned Colorado by name)
I guess the fact that they have Frederick Roy in Buffalo's system is why he's rumored to be going there...I don't see the fit, personally.
I'm not so high on Ruff. He hasn't really had much of a system these last few years. They're pretty bad defensively.

Also, if the Avs wanted to pay his asking price, and give him the GM/HC role he wanted, they would have doen so instead of hiring Sherman and Sacco. I don't think he's coming here.
I doubt he's going to Buffalo either. Not with Phoenix possibly moving to Quebec next year, and Maloney and Tippet's deals expiring this year.
