I mean, I don't like to see anyone lose their job. He's a nice guy from all fan accounts (I remember a fan approaching him while he was in vacation in Hawaii and he was nice enough to stop and chat) and he has a family. So in that aspect I'm sad.

But I'm hopeful again for the Sabres....and actually hopeful that Ruff can succeed somewhere else.

Hi guys,

Eakins has a clause where he is not able to take NHL employment until the end of this season. The article in post 172 details it a little bit

Just a little insight from the Leafs side of things.

He wanted so badly to be the one to bring the Cup to Buffalo. It's too bad he couldn't get there.

It was time but I'm still a little sad.

Good luck Lindy!

End of an era. I'm shocked. Guess the home games with mostly boo's did their part...

Kevin O just speculated Randy Cunneyworth could take the job. I saw him last night at the Jets game and talked with him. Maybe he is already in talks?

It's bittersweet, but it was time. Lindy will get picked right up.

That's how I feel, but the change was required.

Makes total sense. After seeing Lindy try everything last night, it was his last hurrah to get something, ANYTHING out of this team.

He knew it was coming, the Sabres org knew it was coming. How often do we look back at Regiers move and say, hey...thats why he did that.

Watch him go to Toronto or something annoying like that.

He'll probably slide right over to the Islanders...that's the only other long overdue coaching change I can think of off the top of my head.

I don't think that's a good idea, because he won't have a primarily francophone media talking s*** about him everyday. how can you do your job if you understand the slings and barbs of criticism?

Sorry to see Ruff go because I thought he was a great coach on paper. I hope he has a comfy retirement or possibly get picked up by another team.

No confirmations yet but hearing Ron Rolston (coaching Rochester in AHL) as possible and perhaps likely replacement in BUF.
