Cole + Subban + 1st 2013

Subban has a ton of value. He doesn't need to be sent anywhere with Cole or a first.

Subban and a 1st won't get you Sidney Crosby but -- in my opinion (and it is only my opinion Edmonton fans do not need to agree with it) -- it could net you someone like Yakupov.

I hope it can net us a 6'2 power forwardish player who's struggling, but normally struggles to start a season

A 2013 1st rounder

A top pairing, borderline number 1 dman with the potential to be a solid number 1 dman.

This is a random thread... The only real need in Montreal would be a #1C. Not too many of those lying around.

dont think there is anything out there worthwhile for Montreal. unless of course they are trading it for CBJ 1st rd pick...

Yakupov for Subban and a first? You have to be joking? Maybe if it was Yak and a first mtl MIGHT consider it. Not saying Yak is a bad player but come on.

And the fact that Cole is in the deal actually diminishes its value.

Yakupov and a 1st could get you Subban. Subban > Yakupov in terms of value to Montreal and its not even close.

To get back to the OP, if you remove Cole from the deal and say, add a third (minor difference, imo) it wouldn't get you a Crosby but I think someone like Karlsson is good value for Subban + 2013 1st + 2013 3rd.

But I don't see this realistically happening. They might need 1C but Galchenyuk should fill that spot soon. And then Mtl would need #1D..

I don't think Subban + 1st gets you Yakupov. I think Yakupov + 1st definitely gets you Subban.

Come on.

As for the OP - I think it may even have more value if you take out Cole. The teams that want Cole are not the teams giving up good roster players for a Subban + 1st package.

Not that I dislike Subban, but it would take a hell of a lot more to pry Karlsson away from Ottawa.

Yeah, I get that, and MTL isn't trading away PK, also they aren't insanely far apart as far as value goes.. I was talking strictly player value.

as I see it, I think the habs dont need anything, well they will probably not win the cup this year

but with, Price, Galchenuyk, Plekanec, Desharnais, Eller, Gallagher, Paccioretty, Diaz, Subban, Emelin and the youngs Tinordi, Colberg, etc I think the futur is looking good.

What makes you so certain they stand a chance to win the cup? Price is playing great, our Dmen are doing great and our lines have never been so good. Also, they're 1st with East with best home record in the league.

This said, regardless of subban's value, there's no way we trade him. As for Cole, if we happen to not be fighting for a playoffs spot at deadline, I believe he could get us a 3rd round pick, or maybe a 2nd from the Canes

We have gone over this ad infinitum. Montreal would NOT take Yakupov for Subban straight up, never mind US adding. Edmonton keeps Yakupov. Montreal keeps Subban. Leave it at that before it becomes a pissing contest.
