We always talk about the absolute toughest guys in the league but who are the top middleweights going right now. Just to set a standard so that we dont just end up bickering about what a middlweight is I'm talking about guys 6' maybe 6'1 at the biggest.
For me there is a clear top 3 with me leaning towards Prust as the best based on activity and results. Mike Brown and Tootoo are pretty close for me at 2 and 3. I would say Brown has had some more clear wins but I think Tootoo has a decent edge in quality of competition. Gun to my head I'll pick Tootoo because I think if those 2 fight his style would work against Brown better than Browns on Tootoo.
Those are my clear top 3, after that I'm not really sure who I would have in a top 5 or 10.
I'm not sure if you could label these players as middleweights (some people might consider them light-heavyweights), but I think Chris Neil, Eric Boulton and Arron Asham can be mentioned.

Those are kinda the guys I was trying to eliminate from contention by limiting it a bit. I figured those guys would just cause bickering over the term.

chris neil and prust are more light weights, brown beat aaron asham pretty badly. Mike brown and tootoo are at the top of my list, i cant remember prusts height and weight on the top of my head but i think hes more of a light heavyweight, if hes not then hes up there to.
Prust is 6"0 and 195lbs. People qualify him as a light-heavy because he fights some of them but for me, he's a middleweight. Neil, Boulton are light-heavy. If Haley was up, it would be the champ but right now, its probably Prust

Agree. He gets called a light heavyweight but its just because hes so good at what he does. 6 feet and less than 200 you have to count him as a middleweight though
If Brett Gallant was on the New York Islanders, he would be the best middleweight in the NHL by a far margin.
He's around 6 feet tall and 180 pounds, but he can handle some of the heavyweights in the NHL.
Gallant considere himself as a light-heavyweight even if he's only 180lbs. This is why is fightcards is full of heavy. He don't waste is time with middle. Definetly the best pound for pound in the Ahl and in the NHl. The guy is a beast.
Prust is a middleweight with a really good grapple game, allowing him to hold his own against much bigger and stronger players. He'll surprise when fighting above his weight class, but also loses a fair amount of scraps within his weight class when he isn't focusing as much on defense. Asham definitely qualifies as a middleweight, also a great technical fighter. Neil and Boulton are light heavies.
Honestly, there's not enough Kaleta in this thread. He'd fight more if he wasn't made of glass, but when he's healthy, he's capable of beating anyone within his weight class.

That's a bit of a reach. Maybe some consideration in the AHL but not in the NHL.
Pound for pound Neil is easily the toughest. Guys never really "lost" a fight.
Zac Rinaldo is quickly becoming a force to recon with in the middle weight class
Zenon Konopka and Shawn Thornton with honorable mentions.
-Neil have lost a share amount of fight
-Rinaldo is not a force in the middle class lol. a KO over Crombeen mean nothing.
-Konopka " the small huggybear" shouldn't be in any discussion
