As long as its just for the remainder of the season I'm OK with Rolston. We better have a thorough search for an elite head coach this off season though, I won't accept anything but the best.

I liked him in Rochester last year, he seems like a smart analytical coach.

Imagine if Hasek had proven coaching skills. Him and Roy would be a dynamic duo.

Better than James Patrick aka Lindy Ruff Jr. I'm glad they are going in a different direction right off the bat. Are the assistants staying?

You're missing what he said. He did not say Rolston is the new HC. He said he is the new interim HC. Massive difference.

Sounds to me like they will look at candidates and make a decision in the offseason.

So why should players fear Rolston? He's a Temp.

It was mentioned by Matt Coller that he was forced to make adjustments to his system this year to be more like Lindy's. an example used was making the defense be more active.

I'm hoping that's why the Amerks defense struggled so much during the lockout.

Not sure how I feel about Rolston but I'm hopeful some things get fixed.

I believe Dan Bylsma was an interim coach before he was given the job...I'd say he's been doing well....anyone know this ?

Rolston as interim is fine. And if he is able to get a ton out of the players then why shouldn't he be given a chance to present himself as a candidate for the full time gig?

Nothing wrong with this decision at all as its not like Eakins could be pried away until then anyway.

Eakins or Cooper. If we get either of those guys I'll be ecstatic. Hopefully we keep tanking, so Rolston isn't retained and we get a top 5 pick.

Qualifications:

Must have won championship.

Must have record of cultivating young talent.

Must be a "player's coach".

Who fits this bill?

But I thought we had a passive system

Anyway, I just don't like the idea of uprooting a coach who's widely known as a developmental coach from our AHL team halfway through the season.

I guess it's probably as much outside the Buffalo organization they can go on short-notice for an interim coach...but I'd prefer they stayed with Patrick (or go completely outside the organization) rather than mess with the Amerks.

Came to post this. If for a second you think that he's the kind of coach who...in essence...coaches like Lindy...YOU'RE WRONG.

He has his own system. He was being a "team player" in trying to buy into the organizational Ruffilosophy.

VERY excited to see what he can bring in his own manner. Anyone writing him off based on what they've seen in ROC so far is off base

Darcy seemed to indicate that the interim position is going to be an extended job interview.

If things go well, Rolston will be in the mix for the permanent head coach position.

It still remains unclear what they are thinking and how much of a shot Rolston has at the permanent gig.

Cause he controls ice time. Ice time leads to scoring. Scoring leads to contracts.
