Dropped my kid off at school, went to work, saw my Outlook said I was supposed to be on PTO. Forgot that I had to take him to the dentist. Rushed back to his school, drove back to take him in, then he wanted to visit my work. Went up and did that, took him out to lunch, drove him back to school, then back to work. And of course one last trip back home.

Sounds like a great day, Jarick. How'd he like your office?

EDIT: I don't have a kid or a job right now, but when I got all moved in my little brother and sister(5 and 6) were in awe of campus. And it's just Grand Forks

They're coming up to stay a weekend with me in two months and I'm going to take 'em around campus. Hopefully they like it.

I can only imagine what governments and the porn industry are able to do with Google Glass.

That said, it's definitely going to be amazing. One more to the list of "things I want but can't afford", right behind actual glasses.

So I have a speech I have to give in class on Friday. Informative. I am doing it on the Wild because I have two days to do it, I love to procrastinate, one of my main points is the future team and I know the prospect pool front and back, and I just enjoy talking about the Wild.

Anyone have anything that I cannot leave out under any circumstances? It's basically broken into two parts. Past and Future. It's hard to talk about the present, unless I'm talking about this season, which pretty much falls into both past and future anyway. For past, my main bullets are the beginning of the team, Lemaire, Brunette's goal/the WCF run, and the Parise/Suter signings this past summer which also goes into the future, which touches on Parise/Suter, young players like Brodin and Granlund, and long term prospects like Lucia and Dumba.

In general terms, have I missed anything big?

Anybody have a link to a site that gives a good indepth history on the Wild? Wikipedia does okay, but following links leads me everywhere and I'd love to just hop on some homegrown website's history and give 'em credit and all that. FRB will more than likely get a mention as well, by the way.

This is just for a general Public Speaking Course everybody at UND has to take to graduate. It is the one and only class everybody must take to graduate. Kind of lame, but ehh.

I'd probably add the Wild's first ever Division Title in 2008.

Other than that, I think you've touched on the important points. Good luck!

Good luck.

I remember mine. Bored the crap out of everyone talking about keeping a home saltwater aquarium. But it was easy for me to talk about as I've been doing it for now over a decade and required no notes.

I recall doing one on guitars like that. Just a couple reminders to stay focused.

Oh if you want a tip, try to step back and instead of an informative speech, find a storyline or point of interest. Compare/contrast, high/low, etc. Like instead of just rattling off the record for the first several years, contrast their failures with the success of the post-season run. Basically try to write it like a movie plot. Highlight or downplay facts as need be to exaggerate your point. Make it interesting, you know?

Someone freak out about this with me!
Just proof that I'm right about Ghost in the Shell being the kind of sci-fi that's most likely to become reality, because you know one day they're gonna find ways to implant this stuff directly into your brain.

Man that's gonna be fun, but brain-infecting mal-ware, haha, look out suckers...

I once did a presentation about motorsport in Finland, its history and the great drivers. Also accompanied it with a video.

I have to give a 50 minute presentation (Summary and critical analysis) on a primary research article (from 2010 or later) involving the Neural Mechanisms of Behavior coming up. Not looking forward to that.

And here I am nervous about my 10-15 minute speech on a Europe in WWII topic of my choice.

Maybe might want to include the Salary Cap and how that affects the player turnover, and how for many team they need to rely on getting good results from their own CHEAP draft picks? (and thus how the WIld has struggled since they had a 5 year gap of HORRIBLE drafting.)

minnesota wild: the conservative attitude of the first years ownership and management (low payroll = no chance at top shelf FAs or trades for expensive players) followed by reactionary policy (we must get bigger! our last guy was a bust, lets pick "safe" guys with little upside but can't-miss NHL qualities) doomed the team to a prolonged period of mediocrity.

Wow! Google Glass looks pretty sick. I'm sure there's many things to improve in but I think it will be great to search information (maps, wiki...) in general, for now.

Long week is done, hockey tomorrow night, start of a brutal 5 game stretch, but it's also key.

So far I'm averaging 80% in both my classes, I'm actually above 80.

Just got back from five days in Madison doing some work with a few of the state legislators. In other words, I'm more hungover than I've ever been.

Oh my god, I freaking love Amazon with every fiber of my being...

Got this email, and did absolutely NOTHING to warrant it:

Greetings from Amazon.com.

You saved $5.00 with Amazon.com's Pre-order Price Guarantee!

The price of the item(s) decreased after you ordered them, and we gave you the lowest price.

The following title(s) decreased in price:

Game of Thrones: The Complete Second Season (Blu-ray/DVD Combo + Digital Copy)
Price on order date: $34.99
Price charged at shipping: $34.99
Lowest price before release date: $29.99
Amount to be refunded: $5.00
Quantity: 1
Total Savings: $5.00

You will receive an additional e-mail when this refund is processed.

Pre-ordered Game of Thrones, season 2. I thought $35 for a season of anything from HBO was a steal. Then the price dropped (not from Amazon, they had to drop theirs to compete with another major retailer) and now I've got a blu-ray season for $30.

Small amount, but it's such a nice surprise.

I wonder when we'll get something like Google Glass with contact lenses? 5 years? 10 years? I'm part of a research where a company is planning on using virtual glasses in industry, in manufacturing and service. The concept will probably break through there and then spread to other industries, after which it'll spread to consumers as people get used to the concept.

I gave a speech in college about why the government should stop subsidizing tuition costs and it royally pissed everyone off, including the teacher. Guessing I was the only libertarian in the room.
