ruff fired as sabres coach.

even as bad as the team's been doing i'm surprised...i figured they'd give him the rest of the season then give him the choice of resigning or being fired.

Absolutely. I wouldn't be surprised if Darcy followed him out the door soon as well.

Speculation of Roy, that would be really interesting. I've wanted to see him get an opportunity.

Yeah, I made a thread asking why the hell Ruff still had a job. A couple weeks after, he's gone. I think Trotz should go within a few years if they don't do anything different than usual.

Every once in a while, fresh blood's needed in an organization, so probably a smart move by the Sabres on that front alone. It's more surprising that any coach that never won a championship could last that long, which is why that's so rare (outside Nashville).

Sure Ruff will be behind the bench again by the start of the next season.

Not surprised that Ruff is gone. It looked like the time was coming. I am a little surprised at the timing. I figured it would happen at the end of the season, but from the sounds of it the owner was getting frustrated that he promised results after purchasing the team and it wasn't happening.

I am sure he will find another gig before too long.

Michael Smith ‏@MSmithCanes
#Canes announce that Jeff Skinner has sustained a concussion. He remains day-to-day.

Geez, isn't that his 3rd concussion in about a year?

I was thinking last week, that there haven't been near as many concussions or head shots this year. In the last week all of the sudden they are everywhere.

Rick Nash is out with a concussion right now too.

I extracted the pics from the video of Hansen elbowing Hossa in the head and from the pics you can clearly see that Hossa had already knocked the puck down out of the air before Hansen's arm actually went up and Hansen's arm was bent the whole time. What Hansen did to Hossa was no accident. After he did it, he looked down on Hossa to admire his sick workmanship. The pictures prove that Hansen's hit on Hossa was a deliberate intent to injure and not just some freak accident.

I love me some Wayne Simmonds. Sandpaper, net-front presence, and skill.

Philly and Pitt should focus on playing actual hockey than the bs that is taking place right now. It's an embarrassment to hockey and the coaches should be held accountable.
