schenn is the most likely candidate to move to wing and hes already playe there some. between cooter and laughton most see cooter as the more likely to fill a 2c spot or should things go differently has the better ability to lock down the 3c. its early yet to say which is what but your not going to get a 1d for a 3c whichever you move so why not keep the better player especially if your going to lose value trying to move em?
So...what you are saying is hes more likely to fill out as a 2C but could potentially lock down the role hes been playing all season, and his value is only that of a 3C? I think it's fairly obvious that almost every single Flyers proposal on this board he gets mentioned along with B Schenn. Outside of G those are our two highest valued players, and I think most would argue Couturier is significantly more valued then Schenn.
This was simply a thread to gauge value, to see what could potentially be on the table if our 2nd most valuable asset were on the table. I wasn't really sure what to expect however so far most responses are significantly underwhelming. The Flyers by no means HAVE to or SHOULD move Couturier. I'm questioning what they COULD get if they CHOSE to.
If by some miracle the Coyotes stay in Arizona next season, they may need to deal Yandle (raises to OEL, Smith and Boedker). In that case, Yandle to Philly could make a lot of sense (especially if an inexpensive contract like Couturier's is on the table).
If the Coyotes move to Seattle or Quebec, I see no reason why we wouldn't just bring Yandle along. We'd probably be able to afford him, at that point.
Value is very fair but as flyers I say no only because the chances we can develop a #1 dman is not likely. Don't be surprised to see a change in Myers form following the change in management. I do it hesitantly
I have not seen the leafs play in a few games but is Gardiner still in the minors. If he's so valuable what the hell is he doing there, helping sell tickets? If I was running the flyers my three centermen would be Giroux, Couturier and Schenn. Six quality wingers like Briere, Hartnell, Voracek, Simmonds, Read and another ( maybe Talbot) . Have a tough fourth line with Rinaldo, Sesito etc. and roll the lines. They should have confidence in those forwards to play against anyone. The fourth line obviously is not getting the minutes of lines 1a,1b,1c.Servicable defencemen could be found in Buffalo, Phoenix or Toronto to support the likes of Timonen, Coburn, Grossman and Schenn for 2nd, and third rounders. Let Couturier and Schenn develop and give them decent wingers to play with.
Look, we all know how this is going to go down so why not cut through the middlemen and get down to it.
The Kings send you Voynov and a 5rth and you send us Couts.
The Kings East get Voynov who is becoming one of the best young PMD's in the game and the Kings get another one of your future Captains. You know its going to happen eventually anyways, why not get it over with?
Most of those players are worth more than Couturier. Not all of them, but most.
I have no idea how Couturier's value is similar to Hedman's, who's playing near a Norris caliber level right now. No idea. Add onto the fact that Tampa needs him and isn't going to be trading him anytime soon and I don't see how he's in play (actually don't see how most of those players are in play).

Couturier has a lot of value and many of those players could be traded if we add a 2nd. Apologies on Hedman, he's a name thats always intrigued me but haven't seen very many tampa games this year, so i had no clue he was in that kind of form.
Most of that list is worth more as they have proven more in the NHL. As a Blues fan I don't even consider trading Sharrenkirk for him. I am sure the Habs, Coyotes, Lightening, and ducks feel the same way. Also I doubt the Jets or Panther would either.
Why wouldn't a team trade for O'Reilly who is where Couturier is expected to be. With comparable upside as well.
Except for maybe Bogo and Kulikov, none of those guys could be acquired for just Couturier. And I doubt either Florida or Winnipeg makes that 1-1 deal.

I know Couturier has value but that doesn't mean he has that much value. Most of those players do have more value than Couturier, especially when you factor in what they mean to their respective teams. Potential and "draft pedigree", two things people love to throw around here, can only get you so far. Those players, for the most part, are proven top pairing d-men. Also, teams actually have to want to trade their player away.

You do realize Couturier has a career high of 27 points I think all of those defenseman have higher career highs in points. Granted Couturier will most likely get much better. But what do you really think his ceiling is? IMO if everything goes right he will be similar to Kesler. But there is a better chance he settles in at around 55-65 points or so. But he could end up a 35-45 point player as well.
Couturier right now can be anything from a good 3rd line center to a good potentially great 2nd line center IMO.

How is Rielly worth more than Bogosian? Rielly and Myers are the only ones very roughly en par with Couturier on that list. Everyone else is worth more.

I cant see how you don't valu bogo with guys like Subban. He is a beast.
