It definitely wouldn't be just Cullen for their 1st. It would have to be the package deal. We might even have to take Kennedy back so they can clear up some space.

I don't know much about BUF... What do they need?

I know it sounds like Ruff's seat might be getting a little hot.

Pens' potential interest in Cullen

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
By Victoria Matiash

Recent murmurings surrounding the Pittsburgh Penguins hint at an interest in improving the squad -- relatively soon -- through trade. CBC's Elliotte Friedman suggests Penguins GM Ray Shero may have his eye on one Minnesota Wild forward, in particular.

"... So who was Shero watching last week in Minnesota? He attended (the) Avalanche/Wild game the night before Pittsburgh won in Winnipeg. You know who has Penguin written all over him? Matt Cullen ..."

Cullen is in the final year ($3.5 million) of his current contract. Underperforming in Minnesota this season, the 36-year-old could be a solid trade asset for the Wild.

holy buckets. i'm watching the pens-flyers games...

Are those REALLY the wingers that Pittsburgh puts out on the ice with Crosby/Malkin?

Dupuis. Cooke. Kennedy. Some AHL scrub sometimes...

/facepalm

Setoguchi+Mitchell for their First+Dupuis.
OR
Bouchard for Martin.
OR
Both.

Yeah, we are not happy with that either. We are kinda kinda betting on some other team being about as unhappy with the top4 D they are icing though.

And many Pens fans seem to disdain Seto or Butch...

If we traded Seto we have to get a young puck mover in return.

Cullen could fetch us a 2nd IMO.

I personally don't consider ESPN as any kind of credible source in regards to puck rumors. I do believe Shero was probably looking at Setoguchi or maybe PMB for a rental. Cullen is a 3rd line guy and especially after watching the PIT/PHI game tonite(what a great game!) they NEED an upgrade on top six wing. That ain't Matt. Unless we falter and are out of the playoff picture, I think Matty will be here for the duration. He does historically play very well in the playoffs.

Having seen Coyle, Zucker, and Larsson come up and play so well who of the Wild's bottom 6 forwards are getting dealt to make room? You'd have to think Coyle has shown he belongs and Zucker looks explosive. His game reminds me of Michael Grabner and I think the Larsson/Steen comparison looks accurate.

With Brodziak under performing with his new contract, Clutterbuck due to get paid this summer, and Mitchell making too much and playing too well to be on the fourth line who do you think goes? I don't think we can keep this glut of quality forwards for too much longer.

Clutterbuck has to be on the trade block. He is an RFA this coming offseason, and his play is not worth what his pay will have to be.

If Pens are interested in anyone its Seto and PMB, skill for the top6 both guys should be cheap as wild would rather have Zucker/Larsson

Love the trade forum.

Wild trying to move Setoguchi, PMB, maybe Cullen.

Others trying to get Coyle, Larsson, and Zucker for pennies.

Like Clowe when he's on. Would fit in with what the Wild look for, however, I fail to see why he's really needed on this roster. Murray is all but done in the NHL at this point. It's likely that Cullen, Bouchard, and Kassian will all not be with this organization next year but if this team has any chance of doing anything this season, they'll need contributions from Cullen and Bouchard. I don't think Clowe and Murray provide much of an upgrade to justify more roster upheaval on this team.

As far as comments on Clutter, he'll be re-signed and I don't believe this team is looking to move him unless the absolute right offer came along. And that would be in the form of adding to get a more higher end player.

I would trade Clutterbuck. He's already peaked. Nobody can deny that. And he's going to cost us twice as much to keep. Plus, he is not really doing much this year.

Easy decision.

I'm torn on Clutter, he's such a fan favorite(myself included), and he can bring an element that this team lacks. However, he tends not to show up some(most) nights. I really want to see him in the playoffs with us, I sure wouldn't want to play against him. I know he is replaceable, but I feel like he will be resigned to a reasonable deal.

Who would do all the commercials on FSN then??

I'd be all over Smid if I'm GMCF. He seems to be what Scandella has yet to become. I also think Chris Stewart is a nice fit like I've mentioned before and I could see a deal centered on Stewart for Scandella+ although not sure what the + is. Maybe PMB?
