Totally! I mean, look at the all the quality NHLers just waiting in the wings to take his spot!

David Ullstrom is riding the bench over Kyle Okposo.

You're welcome, all it took was a quick search on the Isles website. I must say that I was even surprised I had to go back that far to find more than 4 wins in a row.

Last time they won 5 in a row was actually part of a 6 game streak

February 12th - 21st of 2008 (vs Philadelphia, Toronto, Atlanta, San Jose, Washington and Tampa)

To put that into perspective, there are currently three Islanders who were on the team that beat Atlanta; Rick Dipietro, Frans Nielsen and Radek Martinek.

To put that even more into perspective, here is the lineup from that game...

Hilbert - Comrie - Guerin
Fedotenko - Vasicek - Hunter
Tambellini - Nielsen - Comeau
Bergenheim - Park - Satan

Sutton - Martinek
Johnson - Meyer
Berard - Bergeron

Dipietro
Dubielewicz
I remember the 2 in the middle of that streak the infamous 9-3 Pens game, & the 7-6 thrilla in Buffalo-a where Grabs scored a hattrick in that 7-6 win.

Amc - soft

Visk - soft
Hickey - underrated, but still not fantastic
Finley - bad
Hammer - keeper
Vis is not that soft, he does go into the boards and has gotten pucks away from the boards and up to an isles jersey up the ice. Hickey is not that great yet, if this team had a mentor for him (similar to what Weight was to Tavares) he could eventually be great. Could. In fact I see similarities with him and how nervous he is out there with Bertuzzi (not in style of play as much)

so THIS TEAM won six straight at the START of a rebuild? Before Tavares the saviour?
When Hunter was on his Dave Andreychuk trajectory? and Comeau was leading CAN in the WJC? and Tambellini was destroying AHL goalies and had family pedigree?

btw, Vasicek, RIP!

Andy Hilbert was one of the better NHLers on that team. Incredible. And Fearless Freddy.
WOW.
Of course the team that did it makes it even worse. Wasn't that the year Comrie lead the team in points with 49?

I know you didn't say that, i was just using it as a example. I wonder though if Anderson was the difference or the fact that we just don't have the horses to be a competitive NHL team on a nightly basis had something to do with him being the difference. Meaning if we had some scoring talent (other then our 1st line) maybe we could have been tied or up a goal with some real finishers as opposed to down 2 and another 100+ minute scoreless streak. I can't debate that at the moment because we don't have a great 2nd scoring line nor do we get much out of 3rd and 4th as well, but i will say i would love to see if we did how yesterdays gave might have been different.
