“The most terrifying fact about the universe is not that it is hostile, but that it is indifferent. If we can come to terms with this indifference and accept the challenges of life within the boundaries of death, our existence as a species can have genuine meaning and fulfillment. However vast the darkness, we must supply our own light.” - Stanley Kubrick
The problem is that Feaster won't rebuild the Flames. It seems like they don't understand the concept or grasp the fact that they are a painfully mediocre (to below average) hockey club with a very barren cupboard of top quality prospects.
They should move Bouwmeester, but who knows if they will considering how much they spent last summer in an attempt to improve the team. They're not good enough to make the playoffs and they're not bad enough to draft 1st overall. They're a team stuck in a blackhole, which is the same position the Kings were in until Lombardi came in and took over the team in 2006.
Ridiculous that people are discounting him. He's been playing great this year. Most of these people who think he couldn't get a first and a decent prospect are dreaming.
The only problem is in order to trade Bouwmeester they have to either admit defeat and rebuild or continue on with this charade.
If they trade him for picks/prospects it will be seen as the start of a rebuild.
But if they trade him for a late 20's/30 year old forward then wow what a waste of an asset. Which makes me believe that they won't trade him because I don't think Calgary will admit that they are sellers.
