And unless it has changed recently, the Flames owners didn't seem interested in rebuilding and therefore I doubt they would trade Bouwmeester for picks and/or youngsters.
They'll have no choice. The season is already starting to go down the crapper!

A first rounder and a good prospect. Not the Kovalchukian return you're dreaming of.

Yeah... Uhh... Nobody's giving the Flames that for Bouwmeester.

Everybody would be farther ahead to wait for him to be bought out.

Or one of several other defenseman that will likely be bought out.

JBO has not ever played in any sort of playoff game, he's never really played any meaningful intense hockey. i'd be worried

LOL If any GM offered that much I feel bad for their fan base. Shouldn't Phaneuf be a comparable for trade value?

Jay Bo is a very good defenseman. He'll be a great compliment to any team's top 3. May be a tad overpaid but at least he belongs to that tier of overpaid athletes who are at least good players.

Last year, it was that they couldn't wait to get rid of them because Giordano was the next coming of Gary Suter, now its why should they trade him?

I've always been a fan of this guy and think he will go to a younger team in this off-season. Maybe a team like Columbus or even could go to Philly.

I think he will return a 1st and a good prospect. If hes moved.

My dream scenario is Bouwmeester for B.Schenn. Bit of a pipe dream probably haha.

No problem. We'll add a 4th to JBo to get 3 1st rounders!

Well I could see my Flyers trying to add a d man but I am really leery of Bouw......

No way do we offer a B. Schenn or Couts...perhaps a first and a middling prospect like Nick Cousins or perhaps Laughton...

What has changed in his value since being in Florida? 3rd + a Top 4 Defender/Top 6 Forward.

He's also very good defensively, skates the puck quickly out of danger, and makes a great stretch pass. Oh yeah, and he hardly ever gets injured. Did I mention he also plays 25+ minutes a night?

These guys don't exactly grow on trees.

The problem is that Feaster won't rebuild the Flames. It seems like they don't understand the concept or grasp the fact that they are a painfully mediocre (to below average) hockey club with a very barren cupboard of top quality prospects.

They should move Bouwmeester, but who knows if they will considering how much they spent last summer in an attempt to improve the team. They're not good enough to make the playoffs and they're not bad enough to draft 1st overall. They're a team stuck in a blackhole, which is the same position the Kings were in until Lombardi came in and took over the team in 2006.

A PMD that hasn't scored more than 5 goals or cracked 30 points in 4 seasons?

Originally, he was traded to Calgary for Leopold and a 3rd rounder. Expiring contract or not. He hasn't gotten any better and failed to match the offensive output he had in Florida.

Ridiculous that people are discounting him. He's been playing great this year. Most of these people who think he couldn't get a first and a decent prospect are dreaming.

The only problem is in order to trade Bouwmeester they have to either admit defeat and rebuild or continue on with this charade.

If they trade him for picks/prospects it will be seen as the start of a rebuild.
But if they trade him for a late 20's/30 year old forward then wow what a waste of an asset. Which makes me believe that they won't trade him because I don't think Calgary will admit that they are sellers.
